Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:fitzwilliam darcy, jake sully (big/kid), kelan, sarah sully, sookie sully, tom sully jr, ~ash sully

Who:  Sullys, their SOs and very close friends, SOs of missing Sullys, all other extended Sullys, and anyone else that might want to join the party.
When: Saturday Afternoon and evening.
What:  Family get-together!  Open to threads, sub-threads, anything.
Warnings:  Could be some sadness over missing people and the door closing.  Otherwise, no warnings.

With Kelan's help, Sookie had set out tables for the potluck, set the main dining table and set up a few smaller tables.   She counted the place settings again to make sure there'd be enough.  With a shrug, she moved the coffee table closer to the couch, just in case.  There was a chicken pot pie in the oven that would be ready in time for dinner.  There also a dessert pie made - from a type of fruit she'd encountered during her space travels with her family and had happened to find in one of the island shops.  The fruit pie was already on the buffet table, and she couldn't help but notice how empty the table looked.  No worries;the guests would arrive soon and she figured they'd bring more.  If it came to it, they could always sweet talk Lacey and Isabel.  Or slice the pies really, really thin.

Sookie turned on some music at a low level so people could talk over it and placed a few games and decks of cards out.  There.  All she had to do now was wait for everyone to arrive.  There was a sign outside the apartment that read 'C'mon in, it's open.'

The curtsey pleased him more than he tended to admit. He always found it pleasant when people considered his own customs without any mockery. Sarah, like her fiancé, was one of those people who had never made him feel out of place.

He followed her gaze to find his friend, and then gave her a little nod. “I think you are both lucky,” he compromised. “It is always lucky to find someone who fits you just perfectly,” he agreed, turning back to her with a fond smile as she held out her hand. “Yes, he did. Then it must be fate indeed,” he agreed, admiring the ring. “It’s beautiful.”

"I hope everybody feels the way he makes me feel, with their significant other. He makes everything bad go away just by being there. And then there's the added joy of finally having someone that understands my science jabber, other than my little brother." She could gush all day. And she did not doubt Darcy would listen. "It's more about what the ring represents than what it is, I mean, it could have been a piece of tin and a rock and it would be just as beautiful. To me anyway."

With a little happy sigh, Sarah turned to him fully. "I was wondering, if you would help me plan the wedding. I don't mean like with money or any of that, but like with..." she stopped mid sentence, and anyone of her siblings would have wondered if she'd drift off, as she often did, sliding into her thoughts, but she simply took a different path. "You mean a lot to him. And I'd like to include you. I like to make the ceremony more about the man than about me. And he's number three, if anything happens, and please God in heaven it doesn't, there wont be anyone after."

It really was quite adorable to hear how she spoke about her fiance, and he was struck for a moment by how wonderful it was that everyone on the station seemed to be free to marry purely for love and nothing else. He smiled, and happily let her talk away as much as she pleased. He was truly pleased for her. "Yes, I quite understand. But as it is, it both symbolises something beautiful, and it looks beautiful, so you're winning on two fronts there."

When she first started asking for help, Darcy was giving her a little nod before he'd even heard everything she had to say. "Yes, of course, whatever you need..." he started before she changed direction. It took him by surprise, although he wasn't sure why. Miguel was certainly his dearest friend on the station, he supposed he'd just ever considered that he might feel the same way. "Oh..." he sounded out first, just giving his head time to wrap around it. "Well, yes, I should be delighted, of course," he said with a proper smile now. It was clear in his expression that he really was 'delighted'.

Sarah had to restrain herself, both because Darcy didn't like too much affection from anyone but his wife, and coffee was hot. So she settled making a little soft squee noise. "I'll just mostly need your opinion. Because I want it to be somewhat a surprise for him. Of course he'll know it's happening and when, and where because surprise 'I do's seems wrong." She could just picture it, and she shied away from that image.

Her smile was once more wide. "And you don't have to worry I will not make you wear pink, I'll save that for my sisters, and Harri. Or maybe I will go with colors that look best on you, and then just make them deal with it." She did lean back a little, looking him over as if she were bringing up color palates in her mind. Before she shook her head. "I have to decide when before I go down that route."

"Then I shall be happy to give it," he assured her, giving her another little bow because he kept forgetting about his back until he moved in such a way that made it scream at him again. A slight ripple of pain crossed his face just for a second or two as he straightened up again. No more bowing tonight.

"Your enthusiasm is quite contagious," he told her, because he found that he was already getting swept along with her, and unable to stop himself from smiling rather too much. "Do you have a date in mind? Any special anniversaries or anything?"

Obvious concern slid the smile from her face. "You and Miguel played to hard." It wasn't a question, just an observation. She reached into the pocket of her sweater and pulled out a deceivingly small purse. From the purse, which was much larger on the inside than it looked, she pulled a corked Florence Flask from its depths. In the flask was a purple liquid, she handed the flask to Darcy. "Take this. It's a potion works specifically for pains in the back. It won't have any side effects, or clash with any medications you may be on. Drink it until you feel the pain leave your back. I'm not sure exactly how much you will have to drink because I make it for people that are a foot shorter than you. You can't really drink too much, but the muscles around the pain will feel a little tingly if you do. Does Miguel have a blood sample from you?" One would wonder if she paused for a breath at all.

Sarah's grin returned, when he commented on her enthusiasm. "Oh gosh, I don't. I kind of want to do it in the spring but that feels like it's too soon, and our first date was March 16th and that is way too soon. I might be better off picking colors and then picking when. I just don't want to do it on or around Halloween."

“Yes, I am afraid so,” Darcy admitted, still feeling a little guilty about it. “Your fiancé is ridiculously agile,” he commented, which was certainly an understatement. He’d felt quite easily snappable in comparison. Darcy accepted the flask from her, but just stood sort of frozen as she started to quickly explain it all. He looked at the flask, swirling it a little to look at the purple liquid within. Did she mean now? He wondered if perhaps he should check with the medical staff first, but then that seemed rude. And he did trust her.

“Erm... yes, yes I believe so. From quite a while ago, but yes,” he answered, as she came to her question. Since he now had something in each hand, he placed down his coffee on a side table, and wondered about going to get a cup for the potion.

“Oh, I don’t think March is too soon. I think we planned in about .. 48 hours or something silly like that,” he admitted with a soft chuckle. That had been ambitious, but they had made it work after all. “Oh, yes. Certainly avoid Halloween,” he pulled a bit of a face. He hadn’t returned to the station, glad not to find out what he might have become.

"What exactly did it do to your back? Is it muscle damage or did you have vertebrae damage?" Sarah attempted not to giggle in a very silly very girlish way when he mentioned how agile Miguel was, but there was no resisting the blush that rose to her cheeks. Not trusting her voice at that given moment she just nodded. Not only did she know how agile he was, she had used that agility first hand.

"Your DNA profile should be in the computer then. I'll make some that is more you rather than Sully, and more suited to your height and weight and chemical balances, that will due for now, but something that is more scaled to you so maybe all you'll need is a sip when your back starts aching you." Because she'd been there with the pain. For a long while. "That is if I have your permission to use it, I know he had you sign some stuff when he first took the samples."

Sarah made a face. "That was mine and Harry's wedding anniversary. But also the time frame needs to be longer, I had used... magic, a lot of it and it had awakened something on the island, something bad. If I have longer to plan, longer to set up, hopefully that wont happen again." She paused for a second, though her explanation had not been as drawn out like the one for the potion. "I feel like I may have to backtrack a little because you didn't know I was a magic user."

"I dislocated vertebrae when I fell from my horse a few months ago. I have not seen a doctor today, but Lyla told us that I'd aggravated that particular injury again," he explained. He did just catch the blush, and tried to suppress a smile as he thought back over exactly what he had said and how it might have been interpreted.

Darcy nodded a little as she spoke, just to show that he was listening even if a lot of what she was saying was going over his head. He blinked a couple of times, processing it all before he properly responded. "Yes, you can use it, of course," he told her after a moment. "Only... while I do not wish to be in pain, I wonder if it doesn't have something of a purpose. The pain tells me when to stop and rest. If I remove the symptoms without allowing time for the underlying problem to heal properly, do I not risk over-exerting myself and worsening the long-term damage because I do not feel the warning?" he questioned.

"Ah. Well, yes, that is certainly one to avoid..." he started to say, and then she was off on another story that seemed particular complicated and raised a lot more questions than it answered. His brow was furrowed with a little confusion, but the main question was quickly answered, and he nodded in understanding. "I did not, although I am aware of your twin's magic, and your nephew's telepathy, so it is not such a shocking revelation."

"Oh!" Sarah swatted at his arm lightly, not enough to slosh the potion or his coffee."You need to be more careful. If the injury is not fully healed you could do some serious damage. I'll talk to Rachel or Miguel about getting you a back brace for when you two need to be boys. Being in a wheelchair sucks. I speak from experience."

She collected her coffee from the table she set it on. And took a sip before she shook her head. "I think you misunderstood, this isn't to prevent the pain, it's to stop it so you aren't layed up for the rest of the day, or flinching just because you bow. If you have to stop for a sip, you need to stop what you're doing to make your back ache in the first place." Her cheeks colored again. "Er, some activities may be okay to continue until you're finished." No she didn't think about those activities with him in mind, but she had paused more than a few times herself to have a sip and kept going.

"Yes, Rachel's is more plant based, mine is energy manipulation." It was hard not to giggle when he said 'shocking', but not being a person that could hide that sort of thing very well, very long. Especially when she was in a happy frame of mind, it was obvious that she wanted to. "I'm sure you've noticed the crystal pendant that Miguel wears, it's a left over from when he and I switched powers. It's an energy collector, because I tend to cause things to explode if I get to happy or too... anything without them, anyway, it has some of his, the blue, and some of mine, the pink. If you pay close attention when we're close enough it will glow." She realized she'd gone off on a tangent and crossed her eyes. "I'm sure you have a billion and one questions, feel free to ask anything you want. I really like answering questions."
