Who: All the Norse people and their following
What: Madness
When: Yesterday at various times
Where: All over the place
Status: Unfinished

It had been a normal day for everyone. People were going about their own business, some on the station, some on Midgard, some in Asgard... you get my drift. But they would not be separated for long. Reunions that were never meant started to happen.

Brenna tried to comprehend. A god? Loki? "He was too small." That was the only thought that she could come up with. Her mind did not cope well. She knew that it was a futile argument, even in her hazy state. But it was all she could come up with. Death really wasn't going according to plan.

"Well, he is much bigger in person, that was an illusion. But even the real thing is smaller than Magnus." Would she remember her father's large presence, she wondered. "The gods have more in store for you my fierce Bear. You just have to want it. Can you stand?" Bryn held a hand out to her. Perhaps carrying her had been the wrong thing to do.

Seiðr! Brenna coughed quietly. She eyed the outstretched hand. She wasn't ready to move yet... wasn't ready to trust. "What is this place?"

Bryn moved to sit, since her hand was not taken. "It is called a..." She had to think on how to translate next two words. There was nothing close. So she slipped into english. "Space station." Before slipped back into Norse. "I am sure you noticed we are among the stars."

She tried to recreate the words in her mind. It meant nothing to her. The next bit, however, struck her. "The stars..." The realm of the gods... no, she had not noticed that. Could it really be? Had that really been Loki? Brenna went even paler. She had not even said 'thank you'.

Bryn looked around to get her bearings. There was a observation deck close by. "Do you want to see?" She had noticed that she'd gone more bloodless than she had already been. She didn't know the reason but it did put fear in her belly. "What is it?"

Maybe she should... Brenna was out of her comfort zone. Where were the rules and guidelines on this? She shut her eyes, prayed to the gods and apologised. She glanced around for a sign, for that man... but nothing showed up. She contemplated this. Maybe it was a sign of itself. But interpreting the signs of the gods had never been her strength.

"Okay. I will see it," she decided.

Bryn stood up slowly, and as humanlike as she could manage. And she held out both hands to Brenna, so that she could aid her in getting up. "It is not far. And by the gods you will do it on your own two feet. I am sorry I carried you earlier. My heart screamed, and I could not help myself."

Brenna stared at the hands. She had caved into the woman's wishes. She had caved into letting the woman guide her. But she could stand up on her own. She had the blood of the North in her. Weakness was for Southerners. "No. I will stand up myself." And so she did. It was a sad spectacle. A slow procession. Hands clung to the walls for support as her legs unfolded pushed her up. Though she would never admit it, she was glad it would not be far.

Bryn watched as her daughter stood. The fight she had with her own body to do so. If that was not enough fight for the gods, then she was not sure she would want to be in Valhalla. "Okay, but at least grab onto me if you feel as if you are going to fall." There was no sense in her daughter hurting herself.

A glance into her direction and silence was all the woman received. Her pride and residual mistrust forbade her from any answer. Yes, she had to rely on the other woman. Step after step she walked forward.

Bryn went slow and steady, it was just around the bend from the club. She figured slow and steady would make it easy on her girl's pride. But the last few feet she turned to face Brenna. And smiled. "Will you trust me this last little bit? It is beautiful, but I want it perfect for the first time you see it."

Brenna had not noticed the silence. She was too busy walking. It took all her effort. "Why do you care?" she asked. Her voice sounded strained and tired. "You claim to be my mother but you cannot be her. She is in Valhalla with my father." She needed to believe at least this. Her dignity had been stripped from her. She needed to believe at least in a glorious end for her parents.

"I am her. That is why I care. I was... I know my body was not found. It was taken. And it was not by Jarl Skorri." How did she explain so that her daughter understood. She was still alive so that meant Skorri was still alive. Bryn ran her hand through her hair. "But Magnus is in Valhalla. He awaits all of us. But I am thinking that maybe he had told the gods of you, and sent you here with me, so that we might get you better. Because they want to hear of more the stories of Brenna the Brave."

Brenna halted in her steps so she could fully listen. While the defiance did leave her face, sorrow joined. There was a familiarity of her features and she could not shake the dreadful feeling that she knew her. "Then where have you been?" A sentence filled with pure emotion. Hurt. Bitterness. It had been hard those first few years. They had needed their mother. Torunn and Freydis had helped but they had not been as much of a presence as they had been when Brenna had been young.

"And I am Brenna the Quick." Because she had been able to best even the tallest and strongest fighters with her speed.

"With the one that took me. Because he was stronger than me. And my affliction kept me from being where I wanted to be." She didn't know how better to word the state of her now. It was an affliction. Something, that was some ground, she felt.

"I did not leave him though. We both fought until we could no longer stand. I was gut shot by an arrow first. I knew I was done for, and I wanted to fight for my last. And he would not leave me. Magnus took a sword to the shoulder, and no matter how I screamed for him to leave... He would not." The words of their final moments were like a lead weight on her tongue.

It lay heavy on Brenna's heart too. She had imaged her parents' final struggle many times. Mostly, it had ended in a glorious welcome in Valhalla! Reunion with old friends she barely remembered. It was one of the reasons she went down the same path so she could meet them again.

"Then how are you here? Did he bring you here?"

"The same way you are. He did not bring me here, I learned of his reasons for keeping me and... It did not end well for him when I was strong enough." But that had been at least one hundred years after her death. She didn't know how to mention that. How did she tell her daughter that she was over a thousand years old?

Brenna had stopped completely now and stared at the other red head. "I look as old as you..." She shook her head. She might even look older. Her 'mother' looked groomed like a fine lady. How could she believe that it was her?

"How old are you? I have heard a few say that I have aged well." Very well, considering. The blood of the god of Thunder coursed through her veins, and pinkened her cheeks. Nothing about her would currently give away her not quite alive state.

Something came to her mind, something that she had not quite forgot, as it was impossible to, but Bryn turned her back to her daughter and lifted the back of her shirt just a little, the names of every one of her little ones drawn along her spine in black inked tattoos. "Do you remember me getting this last one? Magnus had you and Astrid sit on my shoulders, as if I would get up, and told you to hold me very very still. Instead you were quick to pet me, and tell me it would be okay really soon."

That comment made Brenna stare. It crumbled parts of her wall and disbelief. "Yes, I remember." She had no strength for anything else. Her emotions were causing too much of a turmoil. Could this be real? Could this woman be her mother?

Bryn turned back around to face her. "The other boys were outside, doing boy things, Floki was in his bed. This is only something you, me and your sister would remember. You told me how brave I was when it was all over, because I had not screamed once. And that is why you are Brenna the Brave, to me." And that she fought a disease that was eating her from the inside. She had to sniff hard to keep from losing grip of her own emotions. "Because I think if I had, even then, you would have taken on your father."

Yes. She remembered. It was painful because she so desperately wanted to go back to that time. But she couldn't.

"If you are my mother, then the gods must have cursed us... was that really Loki?" her questions were desperate. She tried to make sense of something that made none.

"Not cursed. Decided it was not our time yet. That was really Loki." After all if they were here with the gods, where the gods cursed as well? Or she hoped those where her daughters line of thoughts. "Thor will come in time." Bryn promised.

"Did they save us? The gods intervened?" she asked. But her heart was heavy. The disrespect she had shown the god earlier was shameful. How could she ever make it up?
