It had been a normal day for everyone. People were going about their own business, some on the station, some on Midgard, some in Asgard... you get my drift. But they would not be separated for long. Reunions that were never meant started to happen.

Lucy felt very unsure of herself.   She had a family now and that was wonderful.   She still struggled to figure out how she fit in when she hadn't been raised with the same stories, the same understanding of gods and realms and now time travel.   She knew how to fight island monsters and the man, not other battles.   Hopefully, her mother could help her to understand her role in this and if she could help.

She went to the house, feeling comfortable enough to let herself in without knocking and glanced around for her mother.

A picture of her daughter rushed through her head. Vǫrðr was indeed a clever one. Usually, he just took a look out for anything dangerous but she had been able to train him to announce the arrival of guests. The crow croaked at the young woman that had just entered the house and moments later Katherine appeared in the hallway. The squeaky clean hallway.

"Hi, want to come through to the kitchen?" Katherine smiled at her, all donned up in a dark blue dress and a hair style she would have taken hours for. Rhysand on the other hand had merely waved his hand.

Lucy glanced up at the crow, giving it a nod of acknowledgement.

She smiled back when her mother appeared and nodded when asked about the kitchen. "Sure."   She replied, quickly realizing that she was undressed.  She did ten to prefer rugged, practical clothing to formal attire and hadn't considered that there might be certain social expectations when a Queen of Gods was on the station.  She hoped she wouldn't be expected to start curtsying or to learn a royal wave.  "You look lovely."   She told Katherine.

"Thank you," Katherine said with a kind smile. She had not been freaking out all day about what to wear - no, not at all! Since when had she become so obsessed about something as minor as looks? "I have to admit I might have overdone it. I don't think grandmother actually cares. Uhm, I was about to head down and make myself a pot of coffee, would you like some as well?" she asked before she turned around and let the way to the kitchen.

Grandmother.  It seemed to come so easy to Katherine to think of Frigga that way.   It had taken Lucy time to accept that her parents were her parents, and Loki as her grandfather.   Now a great-grandmother.

"Does she know she's your grandmother?"   She asked.  At least she knew her sons were her sons.  "Yes, coffee would be nice, thanks."    It would help to be as awake as possible.

Katherine shook her head. "She knows nothing about us. I think Thor should first explain to her the whole concept of this place and Dad fucked off to his library." She didn't really understand why. It made sense that Thor would do the explanations but Frigga had always loved both her sons, had she not? She could not see anything that would ever change that. But maybe too much had happened or maybe her youngest was blind to his mother's love. Her family had always been complicated.

After they had entered the kitchen, Katherine steered towards the cupboards and started preparing the coffee.

Lucy gave a little nod. "Yeah, it's probably best for her to hear from someone she knows."   The whole magical space station was hard enough to believe, without coming from a stranger.   "I can get why your father would want to stay away.   It's a strange feeling when someone who's supposed to be dead, someone you've already grieved suddenly shows up in your life."   For her, it had been several someones when she had been sent back in time, including the mother that was now making her coffee.

Your father... The distance in those words hurt. She was glad she had her back to Lucy to not let it show. It hadn't been any different in beginning with her and the god she now had accepted as her family, had it?

"Yeah, I get it too." She glanced back shortly. "I'm sorry I sprung all this information on you, Lucy. I did not mean to overwhelm you."

"Guess being moved around in time and brought here is almost a family tradition."   Lucy commented.  "Who knows?  Maybe we'll become the new Sullys."   As long as there were no Sullys around to hear it, the joke couldn't hurt.

She shook her head.  "Don't be sorry.  It's better to find out now than to be kept in the dark."   Especially if her family were to depart on a dangerous mission through time.  She'd at least want to know, even if she couldn't help.

Katherine was finally done with the preparation of the coffee maker and switched it on. She smiled at her daughter and secretly hoped that she was not the next to become a grandmother.

"Thank you. Do you have any questions for me?" she asked with another smile before she got two mugs out of the cupboard.

"Only about a million."   Lucy replied with a slight chuckle.  She felt almost like a new arrival, full of questions and confusion.  "Starting with what do I call Frigga? I haven't met any queens before, let alone a queen of gods."  That was the easiest question.  The rest fell more along the lines of - what the hell are you thinking, going after this Thanos?   The man was different; they'd been literally trapped with no other choice.   She had a better life now with a family, a boyfriend and a future.   "And what's an infinity stone?"

"Oh," Katherine turned around. "Great-grandmother? Grea-anny?" She shrugged. "I would just ask her." Katherine had gotten used to calling her grandma in her head. Her father called her that in front of her but addressing her like that felt wrong. Very wrong. They were in a different league, even though Kat knew deep down that her grandmother would have none of that.

"As for the stones... there are six of them in your ancestors' universe. They were there since the beginning of them. If you have all of them, you have the power of the universe. You could do literally anything. So far, we have two."

Lucy nodded.  That would be easier than your majesty and it was a good sign that she might not have to worry about formalities too much.  "I will.  Once she's had a chance to find out who we are.  I still need to figure out what to call the rest of the family too."  She didn't think she'd ever actually called her grandfather, grandfather or her uncle, uncle.   It was easier with her parents.  She had gotten to know them better.

"Anything?"   She couldn't help being skeptical.  The kind of power seemed impossible.  Even the man had his limits. "Bring back the dead?  Send people home?  Change the past?"

"Oh," Katherine said, unable to hide the surprise in her voice. "It is worth spending time with them you know. It was weird for me at first too. But Dad's a lot tamer now and not every has a part-dragon and two Norse Gods in their reach. Really, use them. Your father too." Though she guessed they were part-dragon as well. "Like, your grandfather can teach you amazing things like how to fly a spaceship. Those are super fun lessons." She shrugged. For her it was an easy switch from father to grandfather. It was also a very amusing one.

"Yeah, probably. Maybe. It allows manipulation of time which helps with the bringing back the dead," Katherine explained. "If it weren't for the stones, your grandfather would be truly dead."

"I'v spent some time with them."  Lucy hadn't completely walled herself away from her new family.  She was too curious about them and her own magic for that.  "It just seems strange giving them titles.   Grandma, the dragon.   Grandpa, the god."   She says it with a slight chuckle to her voice.  Growing up, most of the people she knew only had memories of family as children.  Ernest was Papa, but other than that, those names simply weren't used.   "Flying a spaceship would be very cool.  There's something amazing about being able to leave whenever we want."

"Then we could bring back everyone the man took from us."  Lucy looked at her mother.   "Do you think you can keep the stones secret?  Everyone on the station will want them."

"I agree. It is so amazing that we can just leave and decide to live somewhere else," Katherine nodded. Even though they had not made that decision yet, a constant portal to the next planet had been established in her father's old place. If she wanted to leave the station, she could.

The coffee maker began to whistle and she busied herself with filling to mugs while she continued to listen. "I'm sorry. I don't think bringing back people is the plan. They want to kill Thanos and then destroy the stones. The power is too big. In the wrong hands..." She shook her head. The thought of someone like Thanos' taking over this universe was too terrifying.

Lucy nodded.  There was no disappointment.  She had accepted the losses that had happened in her past and moved on.  It was the way of her life.   Every new person was a gift, as was the trust her mother showed by telling her about the stones.  "You'll have to be very careful about who you tell then.  The kind of power is very tempting."    She's like to think that no one on the station would be foolish enough to challenge her family, but with new arrivals she could never be certain.

"Yes," she said and sighed. Katherine still was not totally convinced that her father would want to hand the stones back. "From what I gather they are trying to keep a low profile." She put down the coffee pot and faced Lucy again. "How do you take your coffee? Oh, and could you keep this quiet as well?" She wouldn't want the whole station to know.

"With a little milk."  Lucy answered and considered the question.  It would be easy to keep it secret from most people on the station; she trusted very few outside of her family.  It was difficult to keep anything from the ones she did trust and she allowed to know her well,  Rohan, Gen and Rachel.  "Quiet from everyone?"

Katherine opened the fridge and poured a little milk into one of the cups. Today, for her, she needed something black. She sighed. "Don't tell them about the stones, okay? Everything else... I think it should be fine as long as they do not pass it on. It's hard for me to say... it's not really my secret." With that she handed over the mug and put her own in front of her.

Lucy gave a small nod.  "Okay."  She trusted her friends and Rohan.  She understand if her mother did not.  Trust took time and her friends had not had much interaction with her family.

"Do you consider it your mission too?   Going after this Thanos?"    Lucy asked as she took the mug.  She couldn't help wondering how members of her family would put themselves in danger.

Katherine took a seat next to her daughter. A took a deep sip from the coffee. She had never problems with burning herself. She wondered whose side that stemmed from. "I don't know. I wished that there would be something I could but in a fight I would be a liability." She had learned a great deal but could she reach her family's potential? No way. The only thing she had to offer was Rhys. Rhys could hold his own in a battle.

"I know that feeling."   Lucy had been feeling that way since the incident with the ghosts, perhaps even since the island.  She sipped her coffee quietly for a moment.  "But you.  You killed the man.  That proves you can hold your own in any battle."   It was hard to imagine a stronger enemy, especially with her experiences with him.

"I delivered the killing blow, that's all. He was already weakened by others." She shook her head. She had been absolutely helpless in his captivity. It was not a memory that made her feel strong. "I have almost no experience and I don't think my first big, voluntary fight should be against an enemy that makes even the gods tremble."

"That was a very important blow for all of us."   Lucy could never let even her mother diminish that accomplishment. "Then we'll have to stay back and wait.  That's like a fight too.   Fighting not to let our imaginations get the best of us and not to picture the worst case scenario."
