[FRIENDS, you know who you are]

I've been thinking, for reasons, about that idea that you can tell a lot about a person by what their favorite song or book or whatever is. Usually songs and books. Those are things that have a tendency to be really personal to a person. And it can sometimes be surprising to see what comes up.

So, because I'm bored and can't sleep, what's yours? And because fair is fair, here are mine:

Book: House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielwelski
Song: Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun

Bonus round...

Movie: Hellraiser: Bloodline

Super bonus round...

Color: Purple (more amethyst and lilac than royal purple, but y'get the picture)

How do you still like horror/thriller movies?

I asked myself that once too. How can I still sit through a slasher movie when a slasher movie happened to us? But I've always loved horror and I'm not going to let some jerkass take that away from me. There's a couple I haven't been able to watch again, like Last House on the Left. But, y'know, I can still watch Stab? So I guess I just compartmentalize well?

Wait a minute... Why does that sound familiar?

Number one, how could you sit through Last House on the Left to start with? Jake Someone tried to get me to watch that and I literally broke the laptop twenty minutes in. Number two, I'm so over damsel in distress flicks, having been the damsel in distress, it's like flashback central. Give me a cliche rom-com any day.

Well, the remake came out in 2009 so I watched that... y'know, before and the original is Wes Craven's first horror film and you've gotta respect the master. But of Craven's films, I still like The Serpent and the Rainbow better. Best zombie flick ever.

Zombie flicks bum me out almost as much as brutal torture. Can you imagine once being pretty and not smelling and then rotting away and eating brains? Ew. I like suspense movies? But I was never into the gore and yuck like Riley.

This one has voodoo zombies in it, though, so they're not dead. Just drugged. But there's a HOMG weird ass supernatural element right at the very end of the film. Which totally isn't a spoiler because a) everyone saw that coming and b) are you gonna watch it anyway?

Voodoo zombies? No, I'm never going to watch it, not even on a dare, so spoil away! I can't imagine a world I'll watch horror films again honestly.

I feel like I could find one that you'd watch. What about The Witch? That was really good. And it's historical!
