The only comfort I can see in this place is that it is clear not all hope was destroyed. The art work here, while sometimes crude in execution, speaks of knowing there is a better tomorrow.

No one should have been subjected to this.

I am furious. Even the-
Tatooine had better living conditions

Hope through art. I like that.

Art can tell you a lot. The splashes of color amongst the drab is a reminder that things will not always be dark.

I agree! I am an interior designer. Some splash of color or crazy design can go a long way.

That is most delightful! Have you always been one or is that something you merely decided to do while in Goodland?

I was one at home too, but here I get to run my own company.

It's really not that bad here.

And I doubt the people from here want your pity. They're survivors, obviously.

I was not attempting to give pity nor did I say they were not survivors. I personally believe it takes strong character to find hope. I stand by my statement that no deserves this prison.

Focus on your hope, I guess, but don't call someone's home a prison. People don't have a choice where they grow up, and they don't need princesses, ex or otherwise, coming in and calling it a prison when it's the only home they knew.

The artwork is mostly Mal's.

I'll be honest. Yeah, it was crap here for a really long time, but it did eventually get better. You're just seeing the place at its worst.

I'm glad it got better. Also, I apologize if my words were harsh. I was caught off guard, but it is no excuse to talk so ill of your home.

People learn how to survive with what they have. No matter how bad it is.

And that is one of the reasons they are worth fighting for.

That is the reason most people in their situation learn how to fight for themselves.

Of course. That does not change the fact that there are those out there who wish to fight for others, even if they can fight for themselves.

As a slave as a child I would have been jubilant if someone fought for me and my mother. There was no escaping, there was no rising up, there was nothing. We learned to take care of ourselves and learned how to survive the environment, but it was truly a miracle when someone showed up and fought for my freedom. Maybe those who have lived here had no choice but to live through it and get by day to day. Maybe someone sticking up for them and believing that they were worth fighting for was exactly something they needed/need. Maybe even just knowing that someone else would fight along side them would be enough to spark something.

I didn't think you said anything wrong. Hope is all we have back home. That and each other. I imagine it's similar here.

The two residents I am aware of don't seem to mind what I said, but perhaps I am condescending. I just...feel guilty. I want to help this place and I do not think I can.

I truly do not believe you are condescending. You’re kind hearted and it seems to me a place like this could use a little more of that.

My heart hurts for them It is because of things like this I became a Senator. I thought I could stop things like this from happening back home...

Everyone could use kindness, but I cannot force it on people who seem to dislike me.
