I've been thinking about this for weeks and I know there are some people around here who might side-eye me when I say this, but I'm going to start SHIELD up here. I feel like this place could use a group of people to keep an eye on things and to keep an eye on everyone who has been dragged here against their will. Are you? I knew I would have some push back. I'm still not changing the name. If people want to ask me questions, they can. If I have to explain things, I will. It won't stop me from doing everything else I need to do.

If you can't even compromise on a name that obviously means some pretty horrible things for quite a few people you're just proving that it's little more than a self-centered ego-fueled project intended largely to fill whatever psychological hole you have from, I don't know, someone never giving you a gold star?

This isn't some self-centered ego trip. Wow, really? We're going there? You don't know me. This has nothing to do with me and whatever happened or didn't happen in my life. I just want to keep the city safe from anything horrible that might come our way.

She just seems to want to help so what's the harm in giving it a chance? Maybe it'll be different here. Granted I don't know it so maybe I'm just being optimistic but it's a different place entirely.

Personally I might have been fine with it before she started insisting that the name was more important than the number of people who are going to turn up here associating it with human experimentation and plans to change the fabric of reality to get rid of people they don't like. And Nazis, apparently. To be clear, they aren't Nazis in my world. Just Americans.

I don't think that's what she meant, it's important to her. Name's do have meaning, maybe she just wants to change the perception of that meaning and give it a running chance to be something good? To do something good. Is that so wrong? Maybe it can be different.

She's doing a shit poor job of it so far. All I see is yet another person who thinks they're right and either doesn't have the people skills or is just plain too arrogant to even attempt to understand where anyone else is coming from. That's not how you rehabilitate something, it's how you reinforce what people already think.

I'm not saying you have to love it. Just watch, give it a chance. Don't do anything if you don't want to but don't smother it. All the infighting isn't helping either side be approachable. Is that agreeable? I don't even know her, I'm suspicious as hell too-but I want to believe people want to good. Otherwise being here will suck more than it needs to for everyone.

You're the one who wants everyone to play along with your "pretend the evil people were just misunderstood" game, it's on you to convince us. You had to know people would react like this and apparently your entire preparation for it was getting self-defensive and acting like you're the only one who'd be doing anything in a crisis.

Look, I don't know what happened in your world, I'm not going to pretend to. I'm sorry it went all so horrible for you and the others. SHIELD, where I'm from, has had a lot of ups and downs, but like I said we're not all evil. And I can say that you until I'm blue in the face. The only way you and anyone else will believe it is by showing it.

Starting something by bulldozing over as many objections as possible and taking advantage of the fact that the rest of the dessenters are better people is a terrible look. If she steps out of line I'm tearing it down with my bare hands and if I get killed I'm haunting you, specifically.
