I've been thinking about this for weeks and I know there are some people around here who might side-eye me when I say this, but I'm going to start SHIELD up here. I feel like this place could use a group of people to keep an eye on things and to keep an eye on everyone who has been dragged here against their will. Purely out of curiosity, hands up anyone who has a SHIELD in their world that's done at least one thing that breached the fundamental human rights of large groups of people or that was just plain incomprehensibly fucked up? Is it just me?

We've already spoken so I don't feel like I have a lot to add here. I will say this though. I know there are people from other realities where other versions of the people who are here, myself included, did some awful things. And some of it was apparently under the name of SHIELD.

Like I told you, I stopped working for SHIELD exclusively when we started the Avengers Initiative and of course you know about the HYDRA business. I'm willing to share ideas with you but I'd rather keep behind the scenes. This is the only life I'm going to get I can't go home and I'd like to start over but I also want to make sure everyone's protected against threats.

SHIELD is and was a lot of different things to many people. As with any organization it's made up of individuals of varying backgrounds with different goals and motives. My personal experience with SHIELD was hardly a positive one and involved extreme circumstances, but I also know that not everyone involved with SHIELD had or has those types of intentions.

I can't speak for everyone from our own world that has had experiences with SHIELD much less those that came from elsewhere, but they have their own and legitimate reasons for being cautious just as you have every right to feel about SHIELD the way that you do. Any organization or business can be compromised. It happens in the private sector just as much as it does in the public. Even those with the best of intentions don't always get it right.

Being apart of something like SHIELD isn't who I am anymore, but if you want this to become something that will help people, that requires listening and evolving. The SHIELD that existed at home isn't needed in the same capacity as it was there. There are people here from all different worlds, those similar to ours and vastly different. Changing the focus or the name doesn't change what SHIELD is to you, but a promise that it'll be different this time doesn't change it for everyone else either. And the name doesn't mean anything to those that have no idea what it is, good or bad. You can create something of your own that represents the people here, whatever that might be.
