School starts tomorrow. Not freaking out or anything, though. Honest.

However, I was at my usual thrift shop of choice looking for school clothes and maybe a new bag when I saw the best thing ever. I found her, guys. I found Annabelle. She's even wearing the right dress. I did the only thing I could do, I bought her. She needs to be cleaned up and her clothes need some repairs, but that'll give me something to do tonight instead of absolutely not freaking out about school.

It’s creepy enough, not sure I’d be taking the chance.

Why so sure? Any weird happenings?

She's super creepy and I love her for it.

No, not really. But she has a vibe to her. Like she knows things.

Well, takes all sorts I guess.

Any weird happenings from this one you give me a call. I’m Sam.

Nice to meet you, Sam! I'm Audrey. And I absolutely will do that. You're the one who helped Klaus, right?

You too, Audrey. Yeah, that was me. It’s kinda all in my wheelhouse so if I can help I’m happy to do it. Hopefully we won’t have to exorcise your doll though.

If only you had been here during our leprechaun infestation. But even iron didn't get rid of them so it was a particularly bad infestation. They were dedicated to singing to us.

Yeah, I heard about that. Kinda glad I missed it. Iron should’ve worked, though silver works better on dark faeries. And you can always toss a handful of something granulated to distract them - they’ve got a compulsion to stop whatever they’re doing and count each grain. At least that’s what works in my reality.

Of course this is pretty pointless information considering they’re not here anymore. Unless the entity brings them back, I guess.

I don't think they were dark. They were just obnoxious. But I forgot about the counting things compulsion the supernaturals have. That's one of the reasons salt works on everything. Salt, sand, dirt, anything small and aggravating. Rice if you're in a desperate situation. Though I've never known anyone to use rice. Salt and dirt for sure, though. You see a lot of dirt in hoodoo.

Hey, we might have a... something else? As long as it's not killer clowns or zombies, I feel pretty solid.

Dude, it’s a legitimate phobia. How many times have they actually tried to kill me?!

Okay. So I was being serious. I remember your freak out. Didn't want you flipping shit over it. But hey. Whatever. I'll go back to joking about it.

Oh. Okay, sorry. Just used to you joking about it. It actually got a little better after the last time I had to deal with them, there was a sort of a breakthrough, but I think that was after the time you came from. I still don’t wanna have to face them if I can help it though.

Coulrophobia is no laughing matter. I legit do not want to run into any evil clowns.

Horror rule #26

I have very strong feelings on the subject, which no doubt derive from seeing IT when I was six years old and definitely too young to be seeing IT, but also there was a spate of clown sightings in our area when I was 15 that was highly disturbing and I definitely bumped the "never trust clowns" rule up from the mid-40s to the mid-20s after that. It's absolutely of equal importance to always having your phone charged when it comes to surviving in the horror genre.

Uh, yeah. You do actually.

I think it’s probably a safe bet we’ll have a something else before too long. I got you covered, Though I’d prefer not to have to deal with killer clowns again.

My abuela knew her way around a few of the folk practices and one of my cousins and I were the only ones who really cared enough to have anything passed down from her. So I got it on the ground level. But if I run into anything that that palo and black salt can't get rid of, I'll call you for sure.

But also ditto on the clowns. Thankfully I've never had to deal with that. Masked killers, yes. Evil clowns, no.

Seriously?

Yeah. And, y'know, Santeria came from Cuba so you combine that with growing up in the deep south and all the folk beliefs in Lousiana and the swamplands and you get this wonderful mixed bag of things to draw from.

The masked killer thing? Yeah. Two or maybe three of them in about a year and a half. You're talking to a genuine, official final girl right here.

Yeah, for sure. That’s a pretty eclectic knowledge base.

A final girl? What like Laurie Strode? That’s kinda messed up, I’m sorry that happened to you.

Always looking to learn more, though, so if you ever want to take on a student?

Yeah. Michael Myers had kind of a supernatural thing going on, though, so more like... Julie from I Know What You Did Last Summer, or Carly from House of Wax. Or from what I understand of my own source material, Anne from Tenebre. It's alright, though. I mean, not alright, but we're dealing with it. Life goes on. It has to. Can't let the bastards win.

Maybe you should focus on actual studies for now and we can think about extra curricular a little later. What are you going to study?

Sidney Prescott from Scream then. Urgh, House of Wax is a terrible movie, I mean I’m not the biggest fan of horror movies anyway but that was godawful. Good that you’re dealing with it. Thats pretty much the goal, yeah.
