I don't know. Is it a very pretty rock? Rocks tell stories --- the history of the earth and the materials that will be used to build its future.

You make a good point. I never really thought about it like that. I've always been partial to river rock and if you think about how they get worn down by constant movement and come out shiny and beautiful... you can almost make a metaphor out of that. And then you can't have gemstones without heat and pressure.
