Eh, time travel has a certain pattern, which followed, can be manipulated and really should not be messed with, but we are talking alternate dimensions, magic, and, quite likely, duplicated copies of ourselves. I currently exist in at least four realities, not counting here, but I'm different in each. However, here? The fifth reality? I'm the same as I am in my reality. That shouldn't be possible.

Multiverse theory applies. The fork in the road. What if X happened that led to Y, but then, what if X happened and instead, led to Z. The changes occur like a ripple moving through one dimension and splitting into numerous possibilities. The chance that you meet one person in your world, or you miss each other by seconds, can cause massive effects.

In one world, somewhere within a multi-dimensional universe, I was never raised by a monster.
