Good morning, Fake New York. It's August, we've been here six weeks, and it's time for your semi-regular reminder/announcement for the new arrivals that we have a medical clinic on the ground floor that offers both magical and scientific services. If there's anything you think the doctors should know before we have to start prepping for emergency surgery, rest assured your records will be kept completely confidential. I'm Dr Sam Wilson and if I'm not in the clinic I'm probably in the science labs trying to hack physics.

Hacking physics is a great recreational sport.

Out of curiosity, does your clinic currently provide mental health services?

I’m predominantly a psychiatrist but I’m also licensed to provide psychotherapy if your clinic is currently in need of either. I had intended to open a private practice but it would seem most appropriate to offer it on a community level first.

Hi. Do you ever run support groups? Or will you here?

I generally provide individual therapy, but if there were sufficient interest in group therapy then I’m not opposed to that method.

May I ask what your specific concerns are?

[...] I don't know if it was therapy, exactly. The woman in charge was a manipulative bitch who was using those girls a volunteer, not a doctor or anything. But it seemed like having a place to talk about things was good even if I sometimes lied.

You’re right. It’s very important to have a place where you’re comfortable sharing your feelings.

I’ll have to look into what programs might serve the greatest number of people here. Until then, you’re certainly welcome to share your thoughts with me if you’d like.

The group I went to was mostly for people who'd been through domestic abuse, and things like that. But I guess a group that covers more would be good, too? Maybe.

None of us so far are qualified, as far as I know. Really wouldn't be a bad idea considering some of the things people here are coming from.

I'm not a licensed therapist but I have training in working with PTSD survivors and I did a lot of research on it when I was with Starfleet Medical. I ran a few groups.

You might be able to get a license here, I'm not sure what the requirements are.

If psychology is a passion of yours then you should certainly pursue licensure.

In the state of New York, you’ll need a PsyD or PhD in psychology. Then you’ll need to apply for a limited permit so that you may practice under supervision. I would be happy to provide your supervision if you’d like; it requires two years of internship with 1,750 hours per year.

After that, you simply need to pass the EPPP to be allowed to treat patients without supervision.

You don't survive PTSD, you live with it.

Wonderful. I am interested in how billing is handled, as I assume no one who has been transported by our host would retain their insurance.

So far the Entity's been supplying enough to cover expenses without having to charge people $2000 for a bandage.

I’m pleased to hear it. That removes an impediment to seeking treatment, especially as so many medications are prohibitively expensive.
