Who: Scott Lang and OPEN
When: Today July 12
Where: Around town
What: Checking on people, delivering orange juice or whatever is needed
Rating: Shouldn't be high
Warnings Sick people?

Scott had been keeping himself busy during the week by delivering juice and soup as well as getting things that people needed. He didn't understand why he wasn't getting sick since whatever it was seemed pretty contagious but there were others who weren't sick as well so there had to be some kind of a connection. There wasn't time to worry about it though since he was busy most of the day. If he didn't get sick from being around the sick people, he'd probably end up getting sick from lack of sleep and not eating right.

At least if that happened, he'd get some sleep, he thougth as he walked up to a door and knocked. Scott had no clue whose place this was, he hadn't really kept track of who lived where but maybe he should. It would be bad if he woke up someone who wanted to punch first and ask questions later.

Clark had never been sick before. For 28 years, he'd just been resistant to illness. And now? Now he was hit hard. In some instances, it's how he felt when exposed to light kryptonite radiation. Achey muscles and joints. Lack of energy. Fever. Except there was no meteorite to run away from. And, he decided, he didn't like it. Not one bit. His fear, though, was what all this meant. If something could make him sick, what else was this world going to throw at them? How bad was this going to get? Or, worse, was it going to get worse?

He tried not to let his mind wander to too dark a place. As Lois had told him once upon a time, the dark didn't suit him. She'd handle that for the both of them. But it was hard not to when you were far from home and suddenly a strange illness was spreading that even his super-immunity didn't stave off. Still, the community was rallying together. That was nice. When he heard the knock on the door, though, he let out a groan of... Frustration? Exhaustion? Both? With a grunt, he rolled out of bed -- dressed in a pair of boxers but a blanket wrapped around him like a cocoon.

Was there someone who was supposed to come over? He couldn't remember. So, with much struggle, looking like hell, he opened the door a sliver. "Yes?" he asked.

Dude looked like hell, Scott thought. Of course everyone that was sick looked bad but it really seemed to have hit this guy more so than once. "Hey," he said. "I'm Scott Lang. For some reason I haven't caught this bug so I'm trying to bring stuff to people who need it. I've got some orange juice which they say is good for you immune system and thre is a little bit of chicken soup left."

Whether or not orange juice and chicken soup was actually help with this, he had no idea. A hefty dose of antibiotics would probably be best but he wasn't a doctor and didn't know any so juice and soup was the best he could do.

Clark stared at him for a moment as he tried to do his best to process what the man was telling him. He blinked and then cleared his throat -- feeling it tingle and wishing there were cough drops. He heard cough drops did wonders. He cough, though he was careful to cover his mouth, and offered Scott a nod in understanding. "Thank you," he managed to reply raspily.

Glancing at his wares, he took a deep breath. "Makes me feel like I'm back on the farm," he sniffed absently. "I'll take both. It's very kind of you." His eyes fluttered a bit. He felt the need for a nap coming soon. "Did you make all this yourself or is there a benefactor running around the place with a make shift soup kitchen?"

Scott turned and poured some orange juice in a cup and set aside before getting the soup. "No, I didn't make it. Clint Barton made the soup over at the coffee shop, some other people pitched in I think, not sure about that. I've been getting the orange juice at Pancho's plus any that people who weren't sick might have arond if they had a frig."

He handed the juice and soup to the man. "Scott Lang," he said. "somehow I managed to not catch this stuff. Guess that's good that a few of us didn't get sick since so many people did."

Clark gave the other man a slow nod as he took a seat at the small table. He studied him carefully, watching him gather the food and offered him a weak smile as he gathered the supplies. "Well, it's still very kind of you to do all this," he paused, "kind of everyone, really." He reached for the cup and took a small sip -- welcoming the burn as it passed down his throat. Let the healing begin.

Setting the juice down, he also took the soup and then held out his free hand to Scott. "Lucky you, Scott," he said with a genuine smile. "I'm Kal."

Scott took the man's hand and shook it. "Nice to meet you, Kal," he said. "and I'm happy to help. It's no fun being sick in the first place but being somewhere that's not home? That's even worse."

At least if someone was at home, you knew where things were, you could get comfortable, and someone you knew might stop by. Here? Well you had to depend on the kindness of strangers.

Clark smiled softly. Scott wasn't wrong. Being sick away from home was hard. Sure, while he'd never been physically sick -- he'd certainly felt other kinds of sickness. Heart sickness. Self-worth sickness. Yes, he was invulnerable, but that didn't mean he never felt like he didn't fit in or that he might not be successful. It was in those dark moments that, when he'd first started, really needed his Ma and Pa. And then, eventually, Lois.

"It's true," he agreed. "Are there, at least, people you know from your world?" From what he could tell, there were a large number of people from the same reality. So far, he was the only one from his particular universe.

"Yes, there are. it seems like there are several different versions of my world so that takes a little getting used to. Like there are two Tony Starks here. I know the one but there's one that's younger and I didn't know him all. I've been told there is another me out there somewhere too." He seemed to remember someone mentioning that but the first week or so had been so overwhelming that he honestly couldn't remember.

"Everyone's been nice though, willing to help me out, get settled figure out how things work. I haven't made it to the doors yet but hopefully when things are better, I can take a trip through them. I'm curious to know what's over there." From what he'd heard, you never knew what you might find and Scott loved finding old junk and doing new things with it so he was sure he could find something useful.

"I've met a few who seem to know me," he said in between sniffs. "So, it let me knows that they're from some version of my universe." He shrugged. "But there aren't many other heroes in my world." He paused. "Just me and my cousin, really." And, of course, The Bat. But he preferred to work in the shadows and play up the urban legend. So, he respected that. As much as he could, anyway.

He agreed, though. "Everyone is very friendly," he replied. "In truth, I'm probably more shy than I should be. I'm so used to hiding that..." He shrugged. "Sometimes I forget how to make real friends." Plus, it didn't help that he didn't quite trust this world. How much of it was them being studied? But, he was certain, that was his paranoid parents worried the government would take him away if people found out about him. He should put his faith in the people around him more, he supposed.

"Compared to some people in my world, I'm not really much of a superhero," he shrugged. "I'm just a normal guy without the suit which I use to shrink into the size of a ant or I can also grow over sixtry feet tall but I can't do that very often, it uses too much energy." Being small had its advantages though, he could get in and out of places that others couldn't even if he didn't possess some of the powers that other did.

"I was on house arrest for two years, long story, but I know what you mean. I couldn't leave, I had the ankle bracelet and everything. If I so much as peeked a toe outside my fence, the cops showed up." It had not been easy especially when he was trying to entertain his daghter. "I forgot how to relate to people pretty much. People came over but my whole world was basically just my house so even though is a long way from home, I'm not stuck inside."

"Superhero." Clark chuckled and shook his head. "It's just a word." He glanced at Scott. "People like to think it's the powers or the gadgets that make a hero super," he said as he started in on the soup, "but it's the heart that matters." He smiled, though. "Powers and gadgets help, but if you don't have the heart to do what's right because it matters and because you care, there's no real difference between you and a supervillain." So, he glanced up at Scott. "A normal guy with a suit to make him big or small, risking his life," he chuckled, "and his freedom to help other people?" He shrugged. "Sounds pretty super to me."

He paused. "At least, I'm assuming you did it to help others," he took another sip of his soup, "I doubt someone who runs around helping others by delivering soup would only do it for nefarious, selfish reasons."

Scott shook his head. "No, I didn''t do it for those reasons. An alien attacked our world. He had these stones called Infinity Stones and with a snap of his fingers he did away with half the living things on Earth. A lot of people lost loved ones. I was helping a scientist with an experiment that involved studying the Quantum Realm and I got stuck there because he and his wife and daughter were eraased by the snap." He'd had no idea what had happened, he'd believed he was only gone for five months and it had been five years.

"I finally got back, I don't know how and I've been gone for five years. I had a crazy idea and some really smart people figured out how to travel back in time and get the stones and reverse the process. So we got most everyone back. We lost a few in the fight but a lot of people got to come home." They had lost Natasha and Tony and although he hadn't met him, they'd lost Vision too.

"Sounds intense," he replied with some raised brows. "We mostly deal with aliens trying to get away with crimes." He paused. "So far, nothing too world ending." At least, not yet. He'd managed to squash as much as he could. Still, as the years have went on, things seemed to be building to something more which worried him. With him here, his cousin would be without back up. Not that the DEO and her friends weren't back up, but. Well. Clark didn't like the idea of not being there for her if she needed him.

"So, tell me about again how you're not a superhero if you were part of a literal alien invasion and the returning of a large group of 'snapped' fingers?" He smiled a bit. "Sounds pretty super to me."
