It was weird on so many levels. Oh sure, she'd played it off as just spending some time in the city to see how she liked it, but she was pretty sure this was the start of her moving to the city and moving away from the mansion. She could always go back, and everyone there had the phone number of the shop, and it was only an hour away, give or take, so it wasn't like she was trekking out to Siberia or China or something like that. She was nearby, and they were all welcome to visit.

Well, visit the city. She really had no intention of parading everyone and their cousin through the shop. Unless they were planning on buying something. That was a whole different kettle of fish.

Mostly, she'd just been interested in sliding out of Westchester with as little drama as possible. Well, that, and escaping the well-intentioned lectures about staying safe. She wasn't an idiot, and she knew she'd have to continue to be careful. Moreso, since she was now closer to the main event, such as it was. She wasn't honestly worried though, and she wondered how much of that was the lingering arrogance of youth. She knew what could happen. She'd been there, and she wasn't eager to go back there again. So she was just a normal girl working at a curio shop.

Jaime stepped down off the bus, slinging her duffel bag over her shoulder. She'd left a lot of her decorative stuff back in her room at the mansion; she wouldn't consider herself officially moved until she'd emptied out that room. So for now, she was still technically living at the mansion while spending some time with a friend in the city while she considered her options. Such was her story and she was sticking to it.

Shoving her free hand into her pocket, Jaime started to walk toward the shop. She did wonder how weird it was going to be, at least at first, but she guessed they'd adjust quick enough to each other's habits and patterns and moods and whatever else needed acclimating to. If she could live comfortably with the variety of people she'd been living with, adjusting to the quirks of an eccentric old man shouldn't be that hard.

Once she reached her destination, she opened the door and let herself in. She bit at her upper lip as she looked around. She tried to think of this place as 'home' and just started to giggle at the idea of it.

“Oh, geeze. Now there’s a ritual? Is there a special shirt buttoning ritual too?” She prompted with a grin. She had to grin at how completely and utterly absurd they were being, but she chalked it up to the newness of it all. Soon enough they’d be settled in and comfortable with each other’s presences, and then move on to sniping about who’d put the nearly-empty juice carton back in the fridge.

She laughed aloud when he said he wasn’t going to give her a list. “Fine, fine. It’s your funeral,” she pointed out. “Or … you know. Your ears that have to put up with my bursts of spontaneous laughter when you mention something utterly mundane.

“Just for kicks, you should thrown in an occasional ‘I’m going to go raise a demon’ or something so I don’t think you’re just some normal guy who dresses weird,” she teased. Not that she really thought he raised demons, and boy did she ever hope he didn’t, but it was the first thing that had come to mind.

Shaking her head, Jaime made a ‘shoo’ gesture to him. If she kept him here much longer, she’d just wind up laughing herself sick and her bag would never get unpacked and her room would never get personalized.

Balthazar paused for a beat and blew out a disappointed sigh, "I didn't think you knew about the demon raising I did. So much for that surprise," he shook his head before allowing a wry grin to touch his lips.

He arched a brow when she dismissed him with a gesture, but he decided not to fight it and instead just shook his head once more before he turned to leave her room. "Welcome to the madness," he called over his shoulder before letting himself out, pulling her door shut behind him.
