Oh good. I was so worried that the annual Toreador Halloween orgy party would be cancelled in light of recent events or that my invitation would not get here in time for me to decide on what I'd wear. Silly me. I should have had more faith in Marcy's ability to multitask and still make sure things get done in a timely manner.

I was investigating the fire two nights after and a kitten came bawling out of the alley at me. I was surprised how friendly it was towards Kindred. I can only assume it belonged to Anastasia.

I have no problems keeping it, I rather like cats. But I wanted make certain someone else wasn't more inclined to do so given the nature of the recent tragedy.

For those who will need to unwind after the memorial being held at the Ivory Tower tomorrow night or plan on skipping it altogether since it's being turned into a court affair, Micah is opening up his place for the night so that we can hold our own wake and celebrate the unlife of Anastasia and the others that were lost.

Once again Mr. Peter Gundry has drawn me into his composition, this time including his brother Darren in the working. This mixed with the photo for the video by Ms. Natalia Drepina creates such a beautiful setting. I could almost imagine it in one of those Victorian or turn-of-the-century horror films. The protagonist lost in their own mind, wandering a house falling down around them - or so they believe... Her gallery [NSFW] shows a very traditional but morbid mind. I fancy the artist to be a witch who has a preference for the old versions of fairytales where most of them do not find a happy ending. Please take a moment out of your evening to enjoy.

I am saddened to report that last evening, I was nearly attacked by a pack of Anarchs. I am uninjured as they had no idea who they had bothered to accost - a target of opportunity, I assume.

For those of you who have wondered about his absence, I have sent the little bird from New York given recent events. Given his [...] ability to unwittingly step into the middle of things that he shouldn't, I figured it was safer for him.

I take this time to thank the Prince, Sheriff, and Hounds for doing their due diligence and bringing the vandals to justice. Although it cannot bring the lost legacies back, one can hope it will not happen again.

As for the artists affected by this matter, you will be receiving a cheque in a few weeks for the estimated value of your works. I understand it cannot replace the sentimental value but perhaps it will lighten some burden for you.

I am working on organizing a Salon. I have some artists signed and ready. Kine even! Très choquant, I know, but I do not discriminate when I see talent. So, a few kine have been brought into my future salon and now I extend the offer to Kindred of any kind. The space won't be ready for a little while but now is the time to pick and choose which pieces you wish to display! Those who wish to display during this event should leave their personal contact information and one of my retainers will contact you with the size of the designated areas.

I must speak, for a moment, on Zdzisław Beksiński. What a tragic figure of the art world and a tormented genius - though I suppose, are they not all? Untrained but passionate, fueled by music and unable to stand the desolation of silence. Quoted as saying "I wish to paint in such a manner as if I were photographing dreams," he believed the almost horrifying depictions of unusual landscapes and skeletal bodies were actually hopeful, uplifting, humorous. I do not know if I agree but art is, of course, in the eye of the beholder and Master Beksiński would agree as he cared not for interpretations - even from himself.

It is quite a bold statement in the art world to dismiss interpretation as vehemently as he did, to dislike it so much that one would refuse to hear a single word of it but I tend to enjoy this. Art simply does not have to mean anything at all and those that cannot accept this fact will be miserable until the day they die. As the kids say, that is my hot take. Do not "at" me.

His was a tragic end as they so often are. His wife passed on followed closely by his son in a true tragedy. As if that was not enough, he was then murdered in his own home by a foolish child in an act of rage.

And I am obsessed. I have been since I discovered his works in the mid-90s. Although I have seen them all so many times, I have never lost my interest in his unusual use of line and striking colors. I shall now share some of my favorites ending with my absolute favorite.
