Shiatsu Eroica

Notes: The Author has been kind enough to give us Eroica and the Major's birthdays, astrological signs, and even blood type. My son is learning the Japanese massage discipline of Shiatsu, which has roots in accupressure and utilizes the 5 elements.

What Is Five Element Theory?
Five Element Theory helps you understand how natural changes within your body and outside environment affect your health. To predict and understand these dynamic changes, ancient doctors studied nature to determine what universal principles existed that could be applied to health and well-being. Five Element Theory is what they came up with.

The five elements are wood, fire, earth, metal and water. They were selected based on the observations of ancient oriental philosophers who theorized that the natural world embodied these elemental characteristics. Oriental Medicine uses this time-tested, diagnostic model to analyze how the various parts of a person's body and mind interact to affect health.

When Jim started to tell me about the particulars of each, I naturally had to ask about the Major and Dorian. We were both rather stunned by the answers.

The Major is Wood )

Dorian is Fire )

Notes: The Major is introduced in "Iron Klaus" where he states unequivicably that Eroica is his enemy and he wouldn't give him so much as a burnt matchstick. Ten years later, in "Emperor Waltz" the Major publicly admits to being "a friend" of the Earl's.

Who the hell made this lovely movie ?!

This is from a Japanese movie website "NIKO NIKO DOUGA DOU"(Japanese only), one of the variations of topic movie "calamelldansen" in Japan.
Unfortunately you need to log in to view it. So I created screen shots.

The story seems like this;
A swedish pop song by "caramell" was remixed for an opening of a PC game last year, and it's posted to YouTube so then became well-known in Japan.
This year, someone created dancing movies using actual anime characters in handwriting-touch style with the same music and posted to the Japanese movie site  and it's broked.
There's even Eroica version!!! Thank you!
The movie is just for 25sec.
( ... Does anyone know more about "caramell" or "caramelldansen"? )

EDIT1: Thanks to [info]tubbsen    for the info, there's English instructions to sign up to "NIKO NIKO DOUGA DO":here.
EDIT2: Thanks to [info]may_onaka  , the movie is now available behind the cut  or  at YouTube here.

Some thoughts on Dorian's title and surname

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

By: Margaret Price

Posted: September 6, 2007

Notes: I had to research British titles for my other fandom long before I discovered Eroica. This might be why I am surprised by the fact that many fans seem to think that Dorian's last name is Red rather than Gloria. I think the misunderstanding comes from the fact that his title may very well have been given the wrong way by Aoike-san. OR has been mistranslated.

There is nothing in canon to indicate that Dorian possesses an Earldom - the county from which the title Count comes from. This would make him the Earl Gloria having his title from his surname, rather than the Earl OF Gloria, having his title from a place, this being the county.

LIFTED FROM WIKI

British Isles
Forms of address
An Earl has the title Earl of X when the title originates from a placename, or Earl X when the title comes from a surname. In either case, the Earl is referred to as Lord X, and his wife as Lady X. Countesses who hold earldoms in their own right also use Lady X, but their husbands do not receive any titles.

The eldest son of an Earl generally takes the highest of his father's lesser titles as a courtesy title; younger sons are styled The Honourable [Forename][Surname], and daughters The Lady[Forename][Surname] (Lady Diana Spencer being a well-known example).
(The latter being Dorian.)

Also, neither Dorian's nor the Major's homes have names in canon. Castle Gloria and Schloss Eberbach are fan creations. (Hat tip to Lisa, Eroicafans.org's webmaster for this bit of trivia.)

portable avatar maker

Notes: Hello again, as I temporarily delurk. I love avatar makers. I will play with all of them for hours, usually trying a few of my favorite characters as tests to how well it can replicate them. So far, Tektek.org (which makes Gaia Online sprites) has been pretty good - they have an extensive amount of clothing but little facial and weapon variety, and no backgrounds. They have perfect hair for Klaus and for Dorian, which gives them bonus points.

Moment of silliness for the day.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

By: Mullenkamp

Posted: August 17, 2006

Notes: A strange random thought I had the other day, and just remembered to post now - more (completely ridiculous) fodder for the argument that Klaus is likely to be a bottom/uke.

In Japanese video games, especially RPGs, it has been well-established that with the majority of characters who have a parent die (assuming both parents aren't dead), a female character's surviving parent will be the father, and the male character's surviving parent will be the mother. We don't know why this is. It's just a trend that has for some reason shown up in video games over and over. There are some exceptions, of course.

This lines up with Dorian just fine. Since he's the Earl of Gloria, we can assume his father's now dead. If he still has a living parent (hard to tell what became of his mother), it would be his mother. That's normal for a male character.

...However, Klaus' surviving parent is his father. Meaning that according to a well-established tradition in another form of Japanese media... Klaus should be a girl. :D

Know thy S-E-L-F

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
By: Margaret Price

Posted: October 22, 2005

Notes: Okay, I want to this lame seminar the other day and we had to take something called a S-E-L-F test. It's a profile test for interpersonal interactions. You see where you are on this graph and figure out were others fit into it. It is supposed to help you in dealing with those you supervised and those who supervise you. This is the 3rd time I've taken this test, so I already knew my results. It's more fun to figure out where others fit.
