Power Girl Meets Terra

In light of Atlee showing up in recent issues of Power Girl and the reposting of their shopping trip, I thought some introduction to the two might be appreciated. These scans from issue 1 and 2 of the Terra mini by Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner. It's not even close to 1/3 from either so don't panic mods!

Quick bit of context, Terra is fighting Lavarians (does exactly what it says on the tin) and she's just evacuated an island by making a bridge out of coral. But she sort of passed out and got sucked into the lava. AND GUESS WHO SHOWS UP?

I'm pretty sure Karen couldn't put Atlee's face more in her boobs if she tried.

This page and the next one aren't entirely relevent but I included them because a) they give a bit of background on Atlee and b) I kind of love Doc Mid-nite. Also note the mouse and the owl. SO CUTE

The next page (and final page of issue 1) is the Doc and Peej staring down at Terra with the Doc saying "They're a perfect genetic match." I cut it because it's not really necessary.

Next issue! Terra wakes up!

I really don't think I could love this page any more than I do. Peej's expression and body langue is fucking brilliant. I love Amanda Conner.

Angry face! Gratuitous nudity! What more do you need? Also, isn't Doctor Mid-Nite blind? Does he need to look away from naked!Terra?

I'm pretty sure Amanda likes drawing nekkid ladies. But it's still pretty classy and natural looking.

And then they get interrupted by Silver Banshee and then another monster thing shows up. It's just a fight scene and I'm cutting it in case anyone (possibly myself) wants to post any more of the issue. It's still a pretty awesome scene.

And then the end of the fight:

After this they don't see each other again until here. So that's all for today folks! If people are interested I may post some of Atlee from her mini and appearance in Supergirl.

Agreed. There's A LOT of gratuitous nudity and boob shots, but it's actually appealing. The proportions are good, too (as natural as PG's breasts can get anyway *g*), and the poses don't make your spine hurt just looking at them. Definitely sexy.

I don't normally read Power Girl, but think with all the bat books I'm currently not buying, I'll pick this up instead. Just for the prettiness and lesbian subtext.

	He can only see in complete darkness, which is why he wears the dark glasses, and can see things on a different spectrum. There's a couple hilarious panels in JSA where he uses a black out smoke screen(?) to hide Black Canary changing into her costume, and she like wait, you can still see me. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	I'm liking the story and the art a bunch, but the whole freaking out over taking some blood is fairly annoying on my end. Burns usually lead to massive infections, and the way to check for infections is to take some blood. Add in the likely hood of powers going nuts and killing the user, and what Dr. Mid-Nite is perfectly fine and ethical. Still, Marshmallow Hell. Fun. (Reply to this) (Thread)

	Agreed. Doc was in the right and it always bothered me how much of a big deal they made. Yes, we dislike invasion of our privacy, but when you're unconscious and in need of medical aid I don't think you can really throw a hissy when your doctor tries to do things to save your life. 	I'm not sure I see the problem with the blood thing; given that she's an unknown metahuman, presumably analyzing her physiology would be very useful in treating her injuries. Anyway, this was a fun story. (Reply to this) (Thread)

	Exactly, doctors need to take blood to run sciency test. It'd only be a problem if he sneaks up on people and sticks them with a needle. I guess the problem was she was treated without her consent, but then again she was unconscious and PG didn't know she'd heal on her own. So....yeah. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Actually, there's a law about this. Well, a few laws, but it's basically, "If someone is unconscious, it's implied consent to render any appropriate medical attention." Who ever wrote this, while bang up great otherwise, has never taken a CPR course, where it's one of the first things they teach. In fact, if someone is refusing medical treatment and slips unconscious, it's still implied consent unless there's a Do Not Resuscitate Order from a judge.

	PG and Doc Midnite would be a cute couple. I liked him and Black Canary together. Ever since Dinah just dumped him when Green Arrow came back to life (and she didn't even get back with Ollie at the time) I've hoped that Doc Midnite's love life would take a turn for the better. 	I think Canary and the Doc were still technically dating when Ollie came back to life. Then she went out to dinner with Ollie, they fought a villain who attacked their restaurant, then she brought him back to the JSA Brownstone for sex. And Ollie tried to sneak out during the night. As a doctor he will look at a naked body when he has to for him job, but once that part is over with it a sign of showing respect for her privacy (even if she doesn't care, because she seems from a different culture.) by looking away.

I've had a female doctor, give me the paper dress thing and leave while I undressed, come back in when I was in the paper dress thing and give me a complete physical.

	No idea. A police officer makes a comment that she "aint legal" but Peej takes her to a movie and say's she could've taken her to an R rated one but didn't want to. Plus she's an alien/terran/whatever so she may age differently. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

The art is so *adorable*. I'm going to have to search down all the trades that Amanda Conner is in and buy them at this rate. :sigh: There goes my budget...

There are naked people and people in skin-tight costumes on every page of this, and yet I don't perceive any of it being primarily for cheesecake purposes -- this is just amazing!

He is blind, but his goggles allow him to perceive into different spectra -- I believe he can see X-rays, among other things.

He's also polite. He might be able see through things, but there's no call to actually LOOK at someone who is getting dressed.

The mouse and Charlie the owl is a wonderful artist's touch! Also, I like that Connor draws Doctor Mid-Nite with his cloak and cowl off -- not many artists do.
