There's no posting like reposting.

Inspired by the just-posted preview for Power Girl #4 featuring Terra, some scans from Terra #4 (by the same creative team), as the ladies hit the town.

Power Girl popped up a couple of times earlier on in the series; now, with the rather perfunctory villain (who was more a guy who kept having bad shit happen to him) disposed of, they meet up again.

They chat a bit (she mentions that she likes to dance here already, so apparently that's one of her character traits), and then go to fight crime.

Satana shows up a lot in this team's stories; anyway, they defeat these not-very-formidable foes, now the girliness really kicks in.

She's pretty well-developed for someone who ain't legal.

When I originally posted this on the old s_d, I noted that this seemed to be setting her up as one of Peeg's supporting characters.  Nice to see more of her.

Atlee be adorable. Aww. Has her mini put into trade?

Might make sense to have the first arc of Powergirl which was 3 issue and the mini put together for a trade.

"Don't worry about its origins. Just try it."

Ha! Guess worrying too much about origins is a bit of a sore spot for Peej.

If I get your meaning, not so much. I was really hoping Peej's title was going to be more Eureka meets Life (Peej rebuilding her life whilst surrounded by scifi hijinks) than what it's turning out to be.

My meaning was Terra and the place she's (so I've read) going to take in Power Girl.

Ah, well, different context, same answer. Naive youngling hanging around gives the book a different, lighter kind of humor than I was expecting. I can't say anything bad about that kind of humor, it's just not what I'm willing to pay to read every month.

And I hate to say that, because I'm one of those people who wants more comedy in my comics. And I hate to say it, because I liked Starfire in the Teen Titans cartoon. And I hate to say that, because I really enjoyed the big sister/little sister dynamic Fire had with Mary Marvel in ICBINTJL. And I hate to say that, because I really want to read a comic where Power Girl runs a software company. But I am saying that, because the kind of humor seen here and in the previews for Power Girl #4 is just too silly for how I perceive a book about Power Girl.

I think of Power Girl as being the straight man for other, sillier characters: Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Cyclone & Stargirl. She takes herself too seriously, and it takes an honestly, purposefully goofy character play off her. (If you've seen Firefly, think of how Zoe and Wash interact, sans romance; if you watch Chuck, think about how Casey interacts with Chuck.) Terra and Power Girl may be cute together, but it falls into my same gripe about the rest of the characters in Peej's book: it's too easy, there's not even friendly friction or differences of opinion enough for any quirkiness.

Again, please don't read this as a complaint. It's just not what I want to read.

It's not like criticism is a bad thing.

True, and most of the time I do. This time is different, because I don't really have anything to complain about. I'm just slightly disappointed that a book I was looking forward to isn't living up to my expectations. It'd be easier if I had something to complaining about; it's easier to drop a book because it sucks as opposed to only being mildly disappointed in just the right way.

That was just his code-phrase to his secret army.

Like their mutant heroes, the scorned and rejected creators and fans of the comics are back in the spotlight for another 15 minutes. Peek below the waterline of the X-Men phenomenon and you'll find a vast, submerged culture, a colourful parallel world still thriving beyond the horizon of acceptability. This is the radiation of mad concepts which the entertainment and advertising giants are placing at the forefront of a corporate techno-utopian dream.
Several cloned sheep, a few embryo harvests and a sequenced human genome into the new century and the class geeks are beginning to look like the only reliable guides to this overlit, super-accelerated Matrix simulation we are all learning to live in.

That's the only way I know how to use chopsticks. I had a lot of Asian neighbors of various nationalities as a kid, and they would try to teach me how to use chopsticks, but I never figured it out even with their patience and tutoring.

Amanda Conner's art never gets old.

So... Japanese food is universally exotic, as opposed to hamburgers? That's kind of odd.

Well, the rawness of sushi can be an issue, at least for humans - like dairy products, if it's not something you grew up with from infancy, you have a high probability of simply not being able to digest it as an adult. Also, if Atlee has been eating healthy for the last couple weeks, any American-made Asian food is going to be waaay too rich for her... in which case the burger will make her nauseous as hell too, but it does make sense for Peej to not realize that (kryptonian or not, she's still American culturally).

looking at the stores Terra wanted to go shopping she has a thing for fetish clothing...though not having a normal live and only going out with superheroes she may think that's average clothing for people to wear.

also it funny that Power Girl of all people covered up Terra's breast when she stepped out of the changing room topless.

Judging by what I've seen in comics so far, most hidden races of people who share the Earth with us have a thing for fetish clothing. There are entire humanoid species who wear nothing aside from speedos.

This is cute. Like, really cute. I don't remember seeing it on the old s_d, but that's okay, because I still got to see it now. Yay! Power Girl is super awesome here. And I think this may be my favorite version of Terra now, despite not really knowing any of her current backstory.

Also, I *really* like Power Girl's boots. And the thing is, for high heels they look sturdy and practical. Plus, she can fly. So I don't even have to worry about her ability to fight crime in them! ...I really want those boots in brown now.
