7 is also the number of deadly sins.
Here's some of the choice scans of the Psycho Pirate story in the Justice League Adventures 12 (due to popular demand).

So PP's a psychiatrist who knows how to amplify people's emotions. And since trouble ensues whenever us humans get too angry, lusty, or whatever, the League is called in to keep peace. And, dickery, catfights, and wangst follow.

It starts with Bats belittling Flash:

And it's the battle of the chins!

There's the catfight! And the I-am-alone-alone-ALOOOONEEE J'onn monologue.

Get a room for the Bat and the...Wonder?

Yup, Bats wants more, Wondy.

Ah, the fic possibilities.

Ahh, I think you're right, but I seem to remember someone at the end saying something like, "So everything's okay again, because it turns out we were all under Grodd's mind-control the whole time," and then someone else said something to the effect of, "No, he just brought out feelings that were already there," and then everyone wonders, "So what do we do now?" and then your quote is mentioned. Or I'm completely making this up in my head.

Bingo, you got it. Flash was the optimistic one; the others not so much: "A lot of things were said." "We meant every word." They're still pissed--when simpler shows would usually just shove issues like that under the rug, like Flash wants to-- but they're determined to make right.

[Grodd's first episode was kinda lame, but Secret Society made him awesome.]

Of course Flash would be the optimistic one. I find it funny that PP brings out tons of pent up drama in everyone except Flash, who just becomes slightly more sarcastic than usual.

I also appreciated how the animated episode went unresolved. Some other cartoons would have a group hug to make everything all better again, but it makes more sense that lost trust would take more time to rebuild.

(Even though Secret Society came first, I can't help but think of the Spongebob Movie, where Plankton uses mind control to enslave Bikini Bottom when I hear of Grodd's plan.)

Oh, re-reading my first comment I guess it sounds like I was saying Grodd didn't actually do anything and it was all the training; he was definitely juicing their brains, the fights just started *really* getting bad during the exercises, which did not help.

No worries. I had it backwards anyway.
