Because quite simply, wearing a hood and a giant cobra symbol isn't enough to prove just how twisted you are. No, you have to dump enemies into a dungeon with the intent of never feeding or freeing them.

Is Destro dressed in his L.L. Bean combat gear when he gets trapped in that pit?

And as much of a dick as Cobra Commander is, Destro was being awfully pedantic. I practically heard Comic Book Guy's "Um, ACTUALLY ..." at the start of his sentence.

And Cobra Commander in the comics was a brilliant chameleon of ideology, wasn't he? In this post alone, he presents himself as a patriotic capitalist, a feminist patron of science and an Ayn Rand Objectivist ("Mine is a rationalist universe ...").

I wondered what had happened to Billy, who made an interesting foil to Cobra Commander. I now find from wikipedia that in "America's Elite" CC shot him with a poisoned bullet (which is "Ick!" enough) but then hung his corpse from a flag-pole as a sign of breaking ties with the past, and there isn't enough "ick" in the world for THAT one.

Every time I see a lame stunt like that pulled I hear John Shea's Lex Luthor's comment from "Lois and Clark" in my mind "I hate having to have someone killed, it's like announcing to the world that you can't solve a problem creatively"

Yeah well CC really lost it by that time period. Besides that he kidnapped Destro and the Baroness's kid and was going to brainwash him to be his ideal son if not for Destro turning all of M.A.R.S. thus his entire life and his other son, Alexander over to him.

But on the bright side, Billy's death lead to CC's downfall. It made Zartan go ahead with his betrayl of Cobra leading the Joes to the base and having the Dreadnoks help them.
