One Perfect Moment (times three): The Authority
OK, I'm very late to the party, but I feel utterly justified in posting this (and making it so big) because, unless I'm mistaken, no one has posted any Authority bits yet. My opinion of Warren Ellis' work, particularly some of his later stuff, is mixed, but I think that his original Authority run with Bryan Hitch has him at the top of his game, and each of the three arcs has a Perfect Moment. (Big images follow. Apologies in advance for poor image quality and/or any fubars; first time posting this sort of thing to IJ.)

From the first arc: The Authority are fighting a Fu Manchu-type named Kaizen Gamorra. He has an island with a forcefield that Superman would bounce off of; The Midnighter has the Carrier, a thirty-five-mile-long dimension-hopping ship. Guess who wins?

From the second arc: They're fighting an alternate-universe Britain, and Apollo has exhausted his solar-energy reserves. Jenny Sparks is going to teleport him high in the Earth's atmosphere, betting that he can recharge before he goes splat on the ground.

D'awww...

From the third arc: they're fighting God, who is a pyramid-shaped giant space turd. They need to go to the moon to check something out.

I adored Ellis' Authority. Yes, including these sequences.
