Not hair, freckles. (Come to think of it, that's the freckliest MJ I've ever seen.)

No, I see the freckles. It's the hatching on the lines of her arms that I'm talking about.

Aside from the usual comicbook proportions (ow her spine, boobs don't work that way, etc) I do really like that cover.

It's one of those covers that starts to look really weird if you look at it for too long, but is basically pleasing to the eye. I like MJ with freckles and slightly hairy arms; it humanizes her - which has the ironic side effect of making her even MORE inhumanly beautiful. I didn't have a fetish for freckled redheads up 'til this moment, but I think I may be developing one.

Agreed, although to be fair the Weasleys Boys already helped out a lot. I do see the tons of errors in the cover, but I dig the little details like MJ's freckles, arm hair and fashion mags, the big photo of her and Peter, her facial expression.

It's cheesecakey as hell but there's personality in it. The second cover is less freakish looking, but it's so damn bland and generic. That could be any attractive redhead. It's not MJ.

There aren't that many redheads in the MU, though, so the artists can get away with a lot. Basically, if you see a beautiful redhead, it's either MJ or Jean Gray, and you can usually tell which is which by what comic you're reading at the time. If it's a Spider-book, it's probably MJ; if it's an X-book, then it's probably Jean Gray. If it's a Spider-Man/X-Men team-up - welllll, it's STILL probably Jean Gray, because the writers generally keep MJ discreetly off the page during such things. Saves embarrassment, donchaknow.
