More Bat/Cat Stuff
Eventually, we're going to run out of Bat/Cat stuff. Fortunately, that time has yet to arrive. Here's a look at Brubaker's take on the famous costumed couple from his Catwoman run.

From the first issue of Catwoman v2.

And from the tenth comes this cute scene between the two.

Selina takes care of her business, which happens to involve freeing a convicted death row inmate, before running into Bruce again.

From Catwoman 32, the two go on a date. Bruce is actually nice, which is both adorable and shocking.

And in Catwoman 37, Bruce is nice again, proving that Brubaker could be an excellent writer if he had a good editor, who could keep him away from the gruesome plot devices.

I was never a fan of Brubaker's Batman when Catwoman wasn't involved. I half-seriously think sometimes that that's kind of how Brubaker SEES Batman "Catwoman's love interest - Real jerk when she isn't around."

That said, Brubaker's Bats when Catwoman IS around is quite a readable chap, and I adore most of this, and the "Race you to city hall" bit is one of my favorite batcomic endings ever.

I actually had tears at the end of this.

My favourite parts? Bats says deep down Selina is a really good person... she says.. "It's more complicated than that."

Bats crying in front of Selina... and him telling her she won't be very popular in the criminal underground for a long while...
I think I just d'awwed all over myself.

Run out of Bats/Cat stuff??!?! That'll take a LOOOOOONG time!!! LOL

This was all incredibly sweet and lovely and I ♥ Bruce here, but I'm afraid I have to quibble with one thing:

Selina, darling, Don Cherry?

Surely she has better taste than that.

ROFL... I had a friend flip through my jazz collection and come upon Dona Nostra and his confusion about "The Hockey dude?" and his look at me was quite amusing.

HOMFG.

Never thought I'd see the ol' DC here. One of these days I just expect him and Ron to just get into such a heated discussion, they'll start making out. Hey -- it can happen! And then Rick Mercer will jump in and it'll be a big Canuckorgy. :-P

Unfortunately (?) there's never been a Zero-Man comic, or we could probably do a retrospective of his appearances there ...

His restaurants are my favorite though, if only because of the N64 in the booths <3.

He has restaurants? I think I've been to Wayne Gretzy's restaurant, but I was unaware ol' Don had some.

Oh he's got restaurants all over the country!
I went to one in Cornwall, Ont. and there was a bat flying around.
....I'm not sure what that says about Don Cherry, but I'm sure you can come up with something.

What did the murderer do, exactly? Did they ever elaborate?

The woman on death row? She was a kid from Selina's old Juvie days who one day... Got into a car she knew was probably stolen with a known thief/sorta boyfriend, went joyriding, only for it all to GO HORRIBLY WRONG... She thought he was just stopping for gas, but it turned into armed robbery, she got thrown a gun she never fired, it all just happened, and she found herself taken on a wild, mad police chase, and after the car crashed there was A BODY IN THE TRUNK SHE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT!

...Sadly, Helen Hunt did not take angeldust and jump out a window. But on the whole, one of the better Bat-After-School-Specials.

If you're referring to the murderer that Selina set free, the answer is that the murderer didn't actually kill anyone. She--the non-murderer and Selina's friend--went for a ride with this guy. He wrecked the car they were in and promptly died. However, when the cops arrived, they found a dead body in the trunk. Sel's friend had nothing to do with the murder, but everyone thought she did so she ended up getting convicted and sentenced to the death penalty. Luckily, she has a good friend.

D'awww! *is squishy inside*

Bruce laughing! Bruce crying! Bruce being happy!

One of the rare times that we see that a person called Bruce Wayne actually exists. If only we hadmore moments like this in his own book. I swear his psyche has turned into a Jean Pail Valley/Azrael complex by now.

♥♥ Oh, Selina! I love you in any catsuit.

That's a fair point; he does have a habit of going on about Batman and Bruce Wayne being different people.

This is why Bat/Cat works so well. They are equals. You could just as easily have someone go after Bruce Wayne to get at Selina as vice versa.

And the reason they're together is so simple. They love eachother.
