Amazing Spider-Man #400

With #600 around the corner, I thought it would be a good time to post Amazing Spider-Man #400. This is the issue in which Aunt May says goodbye. Er, I mean a genetically modified actress who looks like Aunt May and was hired by Norman Osborn to impersonate her. This is what was sacrificed so we could have stuff like...well, you know what I'm talking about.

Prior to this, Aunt May had been in the hospital. This is when she returns home.

"Might" have been behind it? It was pretty obvious that Norman ordered Mongrain to deliberately put something in MJ's drink to cause her to miscarry (or, depending on how you want to look at it, something which would seem similar to a miscarriage).

Whatever happened to Baby May, there's no denying Norman is responsible. Although it does make sense for the writers not to mention that, because frankly, Peter must be a saint not to have tried to kill the man who killed his girlfriend, "brother" and daughter by now.

... Having said that, though, I've always believed Peter intended to kill Norman in Revelations, when he threw a bag full of Pumpkin Bombs at him. Not something that Peter would've done in a more rational state -- but he'd just seen Ben get glider'd and melt in front him and Norman was heavily implying he'd either killed or kidnapped the baby.

So, yeah. Peter Parker's not a hero because he doesn't have it in him to kill. He's a hero because he could pushed that far, but refuses to give in.

Well, I wouldn't know--I never read the issue where Mongrain spiked the drink, I'm just speaking from what others have told me.

Mark Millar did make a reference to Norman killing Peter's unborn child, though, in his Spider-Man run.

It's cool! My bad for assuming you'd read it -- but, yeah, it's pretty obvious in the actual issue.

And thanks! I was going to mention Norman's admission of guilt, too, but I couldn't remember who wrote it.
