Poor Deadpool...
I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Nonetheless, his infatuation with her strikes me as odd, in light of one story...

I wonder why he liked Bea so much if something like that would disturb him so, funny aside.

I heard this today...

Bea Arthur was a great actress (of both stage and screen) a teacher and giver to charities. Yet the first thought I had when I saw the story was, "Poor Deadpool!"

I hope they mention it in a future issue of DP. It make for a great annual if Wade went on some crazy mission in her honor.

Motto. Came here to see if anyone had made a post about it. I'm a bad person.

MOTTO, THANK YOU. I did the same thing, didn't see anything and then felt like the lone jerk.

Then I saw all the Deadpool pictures on Fark and wondered if it was some sort of horrible sign...

Didn't stop me from making the comment in two different IRC channels. >_>

As soon as I saw that Bea Arthur had died, I immediatley thought, must post about Deadpool at Scans Daily!

Heh, I hope they do mention it at some point in a Deadpool story. For some reason I see him locked in his darkened room, watching episodes of Maude and listening to Linkin Park over and over.

He'd borrow Batman's Linkin Park mixes.

They're legendary, even looking at them makes you emo.

Hi there, I'm looking for video of Bea Aurthur being interviewed by Stuttering John from the old Howard Stern show. The one where he asks her how old she was when she first had anal sex. Anyone ?

RIP to a great lady.

And one can only hope that that is how Parker is going to react in the next Spider-Man issue. Maybe killing May will reverse OMD?

But then we'd miss the bitchslap she's gonna give him when she finally finds out he made a deal with the Devil on her behalf.

I love Bea Arthur on her own merits, but that was my first thought, too. "Poor Deadpool! I wonder if Marvel's gonna do a Very Special Episode about dealing with it?" XD

I'm a horrible, horrible person--my initial reaction was, "Damn, now we can never have the awesome that would be Bea Arthur playing Blind Al..."

Heh, my first reaction to the news was "OMG, POOR WADE! D:" Of course my second reaction was, "Poor Wade? WTF, self? D<" Joining the chorus who would like to see Wade react to this in canon (provided Marvel could be tasteful about it).

I wonder why he liked Bea so much if something like that would disturb him so, funny aside.

Closer to the point, I would swear that he calls Bea herself repulsive at least once in his original solo title. Granted it's in reference to her naked body (if I wasn't dreaming) so maybe he's only attracted to her when her clothes are on?

It's possible it's a platonic crush based on admiration, the way some gay men idolize to the point of adoration certain feminine icons like Marilyn Monroe and Judy Garland despite not finding them sexually desirable.

Of course, that's probably a deeper explanation than what's actually likely in canon, which is probably just "it sounded funny so they went with it" by the writers.

Still, it makes sense.
