The War of Light
I think this just speaks volumes by itself. No words on my part will do it justice.

They still haven't changed the Star Sapphire costumes? Johns normally caves to fan pressure (changing the JSA HQ back to a brownstone, changing Stargirl's star rod back to its old form, etc.), so that surprises me.

Carol Ferris as Star Sapphire had fully covered legs last time we saw her. (But still had the insane V-neck.) Blame inconsistent artists?

A different Star Sapphire appearing in Green Lantern Corps recently wore a variant of the Silver Age costume, so presumably, like with GLs, some variation in the costumes is poossible.
The flimsy atrocity depicted above however has, to my knowledge only ever appeared in the Johns penned Green Lantern books, so it kind of seems as though he is insisting on it.

It's by Ed Benes, and that should explain everything.

Brazilian artists have a way of convincing you not to change costumes like hers is now.

Speaking of Brazilian, she must have one helluva wax.

I continue to have no interest in buying this series. If it results in bringing some character back to life, I'm sure I'll find out afterwards.

That's too bad. It's consistently been excellent. Not brilliant stuff, but every bit as good as mainstream superhero comics should be.

I was surprised to see Hal in there at all, honestly, much less in Green. Since he's currently Orange. I know many folks are waiting for him in a pink outfit....

Please don't screw up this war of light - I am looking forward to it with hopeful hope.

Ed Benes is not allowed to draw women. Ever.

There is a difference between sexy and just plain sexist. And apparently he doesn't see the difference. (Not to mention boobs, butt, stomach, legs, ribs, arms, and hands do not work that way. And I had thought he'd gotten better since his Requiem days. Guess he's reverting.)

This lesson I take from all this: Power Ring users are all douche bags; if you want to be cool and still wield energy-based constructs, get yourself a Cosmic Rod.

So the orange lanterns will be always keeping their batteries with them?
Maybe they will even keep all that energy to themselves.

Just from an artistic standpoint, it strikes me that if you're doing this "warm colors vs cool colors" thing, it behooves you to make the Star Sapphires an actual cool color, like the violet they supposedly represent, rather than Despero-skin pink.

Yes, yes, epic cover, but the first thing I notice is that Star Sapphire's costume seems to be made out of liquid latex.

So it appears that the Orange Lanterns will be consumed by the fire of their greed, at least as far as their auras are concerned.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the Indigos are all about.

The pic is now on my desktop. :D

Yeah, the Star Sapphires' costumes are still really dumb.

In defence of the Indigo Lantern chick, the drawings of the male Indigos that I've seen are just wearing loincloths, so her costume is consistent with the others.

On a purely art level, if that's supposed to split in three, I don't see how that's going to work; the middle cover is just going to be Hal and a couple of other characters' hands/asses.

So the Indigo Lanterns are basically healers, right? So I assume their role is to hang back and cure the Greens, Blues and Star Sapphires that get injured. In other words:

Is that supposed to be Carol Ferris? IIRC the last time we saw her she was a Sapphire again, but wearing a version of her silver age costume.

I mean, I can believe in a lot of outrageous things. I can believe in super-powered rings that can do almost anything, I can believe in a cross-galaxy corps of aliens run by blue midgets... but somehow I can't bring myself to believe a tough-nosed businesswoman would fly around in that outfit.

Well, she could still be mindcontrolled, of course...
