But as a developing "failed" plant elemental, it would sense that she would eventually also gain immunity to asphyxiation, such as breathing through any part of her body to escape air deprivation, storing reserves of both oxygen and carbon dioxide in her body (as a plant/human hybrid she can use both), and becoming amphibious whenever she's submerged and swimming underwater.

I believe the current status quo there is that Ivy breathes CO2 and exhales oxygen, like a plant, but that she can only breathe through her lungs still.
