As a formal introduction seems polite, I am Admiral William Laurence and I am accompanied by my dragon, Temeraire. I was due in Parliament first thing on Monday back in my world, so I should say that this is aptly timed, and I am not at all sorry to be putting it off to make ourselves useful here.
Two days here now, and I've spoken to a few that have inquired into Temeraire, and am happy to answer more questions. I know it is unusual here, a dragon, but they are a large part of our lives back home. He is usually quite a bit larger there, but we understand the necessity of his size in this city - pay no mind to him if he complains about it, I've promised he can stretch his wings outside of the buildings as much as he'd like.
As an overly large, combat ready dragon could prove useful here, we will be offering aerial combat training to the agents and available for missions as needed. We have just come from a rather long war, and Temeraire is more than willing to jump back in again. I have a long history in the Royal Navy, and then later Aerial Corps, so it was only a matter of time before I went insane dealing with politics - this is a welcome reprieve for me.
He is good for conversation, curious to a fault, but unable to use these devices, so please feel free to befriend him if you see him in the pavilion next to tower one. He asked me to pass along that he would appreciate speaking to someone who knows languages he does not (which is an extensive list in itself, a great deal of the European languages (and Chinese), save for Italian, Dutch and Romanian, I think.) and is willing to read to him.
I look forward to meeting all of you.
With great pleasure,
W. Laurence
