THE DAY OF MEAT IS UPON US
Who: Any and all carnivores
Where: Where the party is
When: King's Year 198, last summer, the final day of the Meat Festival
What: Meat Day

[Today , the open plains have transformed into a bustling little city of tents and smokehouses. Everywhere, people are cooking, eating, dancing, and partying down. Heroes of the raptor hunt (easily recognizable wearing the cleaned skulls of their kills as fashionable hats) are telling their tales. Somebody has already broken out the booze.]

[It probably goes without saying, but the whole world smells fantastic.]

Looks like you're hitting on me.

[chuckles] I'm glad we can at least agree on that much.

. . . because I'm pretty, right?

If it were just that, I would have tried harder last time.

Everything is faster if you don't care about the consequences.

[thinks about that for a bit...]

That doesn't even make sense.

[Laughs]

Think about it like this, if I steal, say, a bag of money, it takes a lot less planning and precision if I don't care about getting caught when I leave the building. Same with people. You can do and try anything you want if you don't care what happens after.

Yes but... if you don't plan not to get caught then wouldn't you?

If I plan, I never get caught. It's the only way I do business. People are another story. Finesse only matters when the outcome matters.

'Pretty' doesn't require finesse.

... so what you're saying is this is part of a plan.

A plan that hopefully results in you not trying to hide next time we run into one another.

It's not hiding.

More like... creative obstruction of one's view.

Then the plan is for less creative obstruction.

How am I doing so far?

Not bad, but really. Just promise you won't drag me into one of your schemes again and it'll be mission accomplished for you.

[laughs] Are you serious? I think I can manage that.

Promise?

Not that I don't mind the occasional antic, it's just bad for me to have a record, you know?
