Game 89
Who: Everyone!
Where: Arena
When: Day 132, evening
What: Game time!

[The Call to the Arena today is the simple sound of hammer on metal. Rhythmic, tireless it's almost a marching tune to those who happened to hear and follow it.

When you enter the Arena bare land quickly gives way to drifts of snow and barren, snow-striped trees. The further you go in, the deeper and deeper the snow gets. By the time you can make out the broad, grinning statue on the throne between gusts of snow laden wind, the snow chest-deep on most.

In the center, at the statues feet are two very welcome things at this point: Fur wraps of some unknown white animal large enough to drape around you and a metal pot of hot chocolate and several ceramic cups.]

HA HA HA! Bit of an effort wasn't it? I had to get your blood pumping for this one! Everyone warmed up?

He's the one who controls his pets, he's the danger.

Aah? Pikachu didn't seem very controlled to me. Why did he attack you, anyway?

Pikachu? He only stood by the first time... and he wasn't there next time.

He just wanted to fight.

I can't win, his monsters are too strong. . . Aeris got wiped out too.

Sounds like you should steer clear of him. Is Ophi even allowed to just come beat us up like that?

How should I know? And he came to our dorms. You stay clear of him too...

Aah, what was the last thing that happened when you left... a lot has happened.

. . .

After that... there was another Trickster game right away. We got clues on how to beat him again. He completely went insane, and ... in the end, he crumbled and disappeared.

His statue.

He's gone. Completely-- Aeris felt him go. And none of us knew anything like that would happen, which means whoever was giving us the means to beat his games was doing it to kill Trickster. And none of the Judges have punished us at all. So... that's where we are on the Judges.

Killing a Judge. Just by beating his games?

I think... it's because we weren't afraid of him anymore. He's a "god," right? What good is a god if he doesn't have any believers? It was like he rewound in time until his beginning, then disappeared.

Well, like I said, the Judges didn't do anything to help. And his wife was one of the people who screwed him over. So there's more to it.

Yeah. A lot of rotten stuff surfaced. . .

Lightning has a demon chained to him that makes him need to devour other humans to live. Lightning killed and ate a member of Vulpceula in secret, which everyone only found out after he was taken. Meanwhile Jace tried to manipulate Hydra and Vulpecula into killing one of their own in a mansion game that didn't have to be dangerous, in revenge for losing that Storyteller's Wolf game. Then Lightning attacked and ate a member of Delphinus in public after a memory triggered him, plus Jim on Orion's arm. He got taken in by Ophiuchus for that, and then wound up in the pillar later. Jace announced it in this big public meeting with witnesses to make reparations between Canis and Delphinus for the kill, and Rainbow and Scowl clapped in front of everyone. Rainbow wouldn't leave and stuck around to kick up more dirt... after that, since Lightning was gone, most people went home.
