The. Fruitful. Project. [16 Mar 2009|04:47pm] The Fruitful Project Original Character. Future. Arranged Marriage. 17 & Up. In the year 2010 the world was plagued by the full effect of Global Warming. No country was spared and no one could imagine the speed in which it came. Within months entire cities were underwater, drier than deserts, or completely leveled. Thousands died and there was no end in sight. Many lost hope until 2020 when the Eden Project was founded. The Eden Project was a last ditch effort by the human race. Surviving scientists came up with a chemical, a gas called 'Eden' that would hopefully cool the atmosphere enough to put a stop to the catastrophes happening around the world. Slowly but surely the temperature began to drop and the storms slowed. In the time between the beginning of the storms to the launch of the Eden Project, the world population had dropped from nearly seven billion to a little below five. It was another six years before the effect of the 'Eden' chemical was known. It began in 2028. There were suddenly less children being born and by the end of 2029, pregnancies stopped all together. The men and women of the world were now completely sterile. It was soon discovered that the Eden chemical was the cause of the sterilization, that the one thing that had saved the world had also doomed it to an inevitable ending, the population destined to dwindle down to nothing. In 2048 a solution was found The same lab that developed the Eden project has been working for the past nineteen years to reverse the devastating effects without destroying the now near perfect atmosphere of Earth. The Fruitful project was a serum, a cure that reversed the sterilization but only in people below the age of thirty. The Global Government is taking a drastic step to increase the population. The Governments of the world began to administer the serum by administering it to everyone as a vaccine at doctor's appointments. To further insure that the population will continue to grow and to 'usher in a new era of life', a global law has been put into place. A marriage law. The Fruitful Law. Every healthy, non-married person between the ages of nineteen and twenty-nine are to be married, whether by choice or by Government selection. The couple will have a one year period at the most after their marriage to conceive. The Fruitful project is for the betterment of our world. In the Spring of 2008 a new CEO bought up the company and by the fall it was one of the biggest publishing companies in London. Somehow beating out all the competition the stock prices skyrocketed, leaving Stratford Publishing Inc. the strong company it is today. As one of the biggest employers in London and the outlying areas people have come to respect the large building with the big, tinted windows not all that far from the London eye. People count on Stratford Publishing for their careers and it has become a strong, almost over-powering part of the community. In the year 2008, a virus swept North America. Ever vigilant for a pandemic, citizens boarded up their windows, stockpiled their canned goods, and turned their neighbors in to the CDC. Short wave radios fell off the shelves, evacuation routes were prepared. Gas masks and specialty filtration systems were distributed. Pills were available for those showing early symptoms. Pills that did not work. That were later replaced with cyanide as their active ingredient. For those who were brave enough to put their fingers near a loved one's mouth. The United States, Canada, Mexico, the virus swept down into South America and festered in the heat of the jungle. In some places it burned out. Superstition ruled and saved lives. But nothing stopped the virus. You wake up to the crackle of dead airwaves. Three months after the first diagnosed case of Currere Excessum was recorded, NATO approved Great Britain's use of nuclear force against the United States. It was assumed that all organic material would be reduced to ash under the impact. It was assumed that the Quarantine of the Americas would be temporary, at best. Any who survived the blast would be given the highest in humanitarian attention and medical care. The only American emissaries who knew of the plan lay incinerated in Washington. Unbeknownst to the mere mortal however there is another world hidden in the city as the Forem Coven tries to revive the old ways by co-existing with the mortals. Maire Rondriel, descended from the founder of The Sanctum Society, has also moved her operation to this fair city. The current Council of the Forem Coven stands as follows: Vampire: Christien Jorgenson, Werewolf: William MacOgden, Warlock: Robert Archer. Together they are trying to make their lessers behave as best as possible. That is until the arrival of an old child of Christien's: Adrian Drake. Together with her werewolf buddie Erik Stevens, and Witch friend Tala Jones she has formed a new group. A new world order known as Novus Coven. They plan to reclaim the world from mortals anyway nessecary in order to restore what they see as balance. Working out of an underground(literally and figuratively) night club called Spike's they are plotting to take ever everything with Adrian set to come out on top. Elsewhere Jereme Endicot is restoring his family mansion when he happens upon a kit and several diaries of his great uncle's detailing what the Endicot Clan once did. The more he reads the more his blood boils to find those who nearly killed off his family centuries ago. Along with his brother, sister, and nephews he reinstates the old family business and sets off on a quest to hunt down and kill supernatural creatures. What will your role in all this be? Vampire? Werewolf? Psychic? Witch? Warlock? Good? Evil? Neutral? Forem? Novus? Sanctum? Endicot? or maybe you're just another mortal who has no idea this is all going on around you? The choice is yours. The large and empty screen ahead is your only source of light as you try to figure out how and why you’ve arrived here. Your last recollection before your dreamless night was lying down in your bed and drifting off to sleep. You thought you were safe. As you make your way to the outside you notice the sky a gloomy overcast that’s threatening rain, but the weather isn’t what bothers you; it’s that concrete wall surrounding the premises that has you worried. In the distance you can spot four tall buildings and even an Amusement Park, yet, as you continue to explore, any trace of an exit seems almost impossible. You’re trapped here. Walking further you suddenly hear a disembodied cry of something horrible; something deadly, and it sounds hungry. Adrenaline pumping through your veins you stop and look for the source of the noise, but can’t find anything. You continue to walk forward, thinking it’s all in your head, thinking maybe you’re being paranoid, but another retching scream calls out; now it’s right behind you. And suddenly you realize that the threat is real and you better be quick on your feet if you plan to survive. “Horrorwood” is a panfandom horror roleplay that takes place in an alternate city very similar to that of Hollywood, California, with the exception that the place has been barricaded from the outside world and is crawling with all too real monsters. Good guys, and even the bad guys, wake up to find themselves trapped and relying desperately on their keen survival instincts.
