A period where dinosaurs rule over the land, sea, and sky. With the appearance of bees, plants and angiosperms also start to flourish and the weather has settled on temperate. It's a crucial time in Earth's natural evolution history. Why and how, has NYC become the newest victim of time-travel field trips gone wrong? Well no one's really sure about that. Whoever did it covered their tracks and left nothing. As if relocating a city through time wasn't impressive enough; time travel itself seems to be prohibited. On top of that, they managed to gather all the heroes, villains, and anyone they ever associated with, and plop them into the city just before the "big move." Also? They've managed to raise the dead, in the non-zombie way. It's all rather impressive but the lack of answers make it terrifying. Outside the city it's beautiful, untouched, and primitive and dangerous. Nevermind facing your arch nemesis -- there's an allosaurus more than ready to gobble both of you up for lunch. A few ambitious Gryffindors decided that since they were unable to find dates to the Halloween Ball, they would create a journal were they could post 'single ads'. This journal was accesible by any female or male in seventh year and served as an anonymous way for girls and boys to 'hook-up'. A Slytherin who wished to remain anonymous has taken the idea on step further. He set up a service where for two galleons anyone could send in their ad and have it open for response from anyone from the four houses. He assigned each person a codename that they could use when responding and required that the users only contact each other anonymously in the ad journal until the springtime when he is planning a revealing ball when everyone who spoke in the ads could meet face to face. He calls himself 'Romeo". When Minerva McGonagall, the current headmaster, finds out about the journal ad service, she consults the teachers at Hogwarts. It is concluded that while inappropriate on so many levels, it is fostering a sense of togetherness. It is bringing together students from rival houses. Like the first touch of cool rain, dark whisperings are beginning to be heard among wizards, particularly those of the oldest pureblooded families. Something is coming - and as it arrives, the whispers will rise to voices, and eventually all wizards of the world will hear the echoes of screams. Dark Voices follows the students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as they learn to adapt to a changing world. Making friends, forming alliances, standing for what they believe in, and all hoping that they will be left standing in the end. [Characters most wanted: Hermione Granger, Ronald Weasley, Charlie Weasley, Ginny Weasley, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Elphias Doge, James Potter, Draco Malfoy, Luna Lovegood Neville Longbottom, Rodolphus Lestrange, Aberforth Dumbledore, Victoire Weasley, Hugo Weasley, Marlene McKinnon and Benjy Fenwick.] At any given moment, countless possibilities open before us. Every decision we make closes as many doors as it opens. But regardless of what paths we choose, and what paths we do not, Time flows onwards. Just as a frayed cord has many strands, each person exists in different divergent Timestreams, all stemming from the Main Timestream of the temporal flow. Outside of the Timestreams, there is the Nexus, where people arrive when they are plucked from the main thread of their lives at decisive points - days they die, start new jobs, etc., and there they remain as their lives continue in the Main Timestream. People are grouped their with those from similar times so people from different eras do not clash. For each group, the Nexus looks like a familiar location. With only the knowledge of their lives up to that point, they meet friends and family, lovers or enemies, masters or servants - other souls who must adjust to life outside of Time. Sometimes, these meetings bring joy. Sometimes they bring sorrow. But always, they bring opportunities. How you use those opportunities is up to you. 'Trip the Rift' is a journal-based RP set in the Harry Potter fandom, restricted to those characters who were born between the years 1800 and 2050 AD. Players have the freedom to pick the precise moment their characters arrive at the Nexus, which is patterned after a large city dating from the period. But with that choice comes a consequence. Each character will only know their history up to that point. Pick someone towards the end of his or her life, and that character will know much more about people, places, and events than a contemporary who arrives at a much younger age. For example, if you chose to play Regulus Black and you had him arrive at the Nexus before he decided to betray Voldemort, he would be a loyal Death Eater. He wouldn't know anything about his actions with respect to the Horcrux, and he would be shocked to learn he had defied the Dark Lord. Or, let's say you chose to play Hermione Granger, and you had her arrive at the Nexus several days after the birth of her daughter, Rose. She would not know that she had another child afterwards. How will they react to learning about the deeds committed by their 'main Timestream' selves? Will they embrace family and friends they meet for the first time, or will they shy away from them, since they're effectively strangers? Will enemies still be enemies if only one of the parties knows what the others have done? The answers to those questions, and more, are up to you.
