Ever at the Ready [29 Apr 2008|08:25am] - Mod Journal - RP Comm - OOC Comm - Graphics - - Plot - Rules - Character List - Played-Bys - Team Info - Apply - - Contacts (F-Lock) - Advertise (F-Lock) - So we all know that Captain Jack Harkness runs Torchwood Three, that Torchwood One was destroyed in the Battle of Canary Wharf, that Torchwood Two is headed by "a very strange man" and that Torchwood Four is currently misplaced. Well that's all fine and dandy, but things are about to start changing. Torchwood One is reopening just outside of London and is now known as Torchwood 1.1 and Torchwood Two's leader has been replaced. Torchwood Three of course isn't any different, with the exception that Jack has been missing for a bit. The big thing is that Torchwood Four is back on the map, headed by the same person it had been before it was 'misplaced'. It seems Torchwood Four, headed by one Major Charlie Sheppard, had a minor malfunction involving Cardiff's rift. In fact, Torchwood Four is located right near Torchwood Three, or at least it was until it and its team got pulled into another universe. Which is where Lucian Devereaux comes in. It seems that he got a hold of a Time Agent's vortex manipulator in the far future and has been using it at his own pleasure. Well, until it backfired and he was sent to the present and made the rift flux, sucking Torchwood Four into it. Luckily, Major Sheppard wasn't there at the time. Now as for Lucian, he'd been jumping through time randomly and unwillingly as he tried to fix the vortex manipulator. During this time he realized that he'd jump from the present in Cardiff to some different point in time and then back. Along the way, he managed to bring back people with him who shouldn't be during that time, and that caused the rift to go haywire, also bringing people to the present that shouldn't be there: those that are dead, those who aren't born yet, and those in other dimensions. And so, Torchwood realized they needed to work extra hard to try and stop this and thus re-established Torchwood Four, somehow convincing Charlie to head it once more. And that is where we begin... Ever at the ready is a Torchwood/Doctor Who RP that allows for any character from either series (old and new) to be incorporated, as well as original characters! It takes place around the start of season two. We've only just started and we're looking for a majority of the canon cast still, including The Doctor (any of them) and most of Torchwood Three. We're also looking for bad guys and aliens to be hunted down, as well as people to fill up the other Torchwood Teams. If you think you're ready, then we're ready to have you join the team! When it was all said and done, the dragon was slayed. The others followed suit or fled for their lives. Gunn perished but Angel, Spike, and Illyria survived. The Senior Partners fell silent and the battle for control of Los Angeles was declared over at long last. The city has begun to rebuild and people have returned to their daily lives since then. Yet, already plans are in motion to destroy the peace that has befallen the City of Angels. The Senior Partners are back, with a vengeance, and a plan they are certain will succeed. The Powers That Be have decided the time has come to mount a viable defense. Heroes and villains alike are arriving day and night. Some come with an understanding of what is to be expected. Humanity Lost: A Post Apoc/Metahuman Rp [29 Apr 2008|07:32pm] It's the end of the world as we know it. Will you be able to survive? It's the year 2013 and humans with superpowers are common place. The government had installed a registration program to keep track of these metahumans. Only problem was that most didn't take kindly to it. Banded together, metahumans rose up against the governments of the world and started a new world war. In a last ditch effort to win, the United States released a virus. The virus killed metahumans and humans alike. When the dust settled, only a small percentage of the world's population was left. Cities were left in ruin. Now it's up to those left to continue on and try to make a life out of what is left. Who will rise up to try and make a new world? Metas or humans? Humanity Lost is a post apocalypse roleplaying game that doesn't take place months or weeks after it happens but picks up in the direct aftermath. The group majority left standing are metahumans, humans with super human powers. If you like X-Men or other Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Heroes, The 4400, or other such fandoms, this rp might be for you. boom_town [29 Apr 2008|10:42pm] BOOM TOWN HELPFUL LINKS Cast List ~ Application Reserve a PB or Face Hero/Villain Trademarks ~ Celebrity Status ~ FAQ PREMISE boom·town: \ˈbüm-ˌtau̇n\ - Origin 1896 1. noun: a town enjoying a business and population boom. 2. slang: the proverbial location for sexual intercourse. 3. proper noun: the place to find your favorite heroes. Three men walk out of a bar. Into a cavalcade of photographers, reporters, and fans waiting with autograph pads, screaming and reaching for a piece of their clothing. The bartender is already giving a full report of exactly what they drank, who had one too many, and exactly what ladies got placed on the attention list. This is just like any other Hollywood scene, except for one important difference: these celebs don't get hustled into a limo to escape, and this isn't LA. This is Boomtown, and the limo is one 'up, up, and away' from the open night sky. Granted, flying while tipsy isn't advised, but it's better than beating the paparazzi in the face with a camera. Some things you just can't blame on super villain brainwashing. Yes, Boomtown. Where the spandex-clad (or not so very) go to hang their hats. From the outside, it might look like any other bustling metropolitan area. But the districts of Boomtown are laden with heroes, whether they know it yet or not. Each school, hospital, movie theater and county fair is destined to push out more suspiciously heroic activity than the annual Fireman's Kitten-Rescue Relay. Of course, where the heroes gather, so follow the press. The people so well known for saving the collective tushie of the world are hot and marketable, and often quite photogenic. While some heroes manage to slip past unnoticed, there are always the media hounds who keep the city hopping. Where go the heroes, of course, go the villains. There can be no rest for the wicked, after all, and they need a place to keep their spare dental extraction equipment, too. (At rent controlled prices, if possible.) To help keep the balance, Boomtown scientists have created hubs, so that they can travel to and from any major city to address these evildoers at a moment's notice. It's also really handy if they've forgotten that pesky anniversary present. No one's memory is perfect! (Except for The Amazing Elephant, but that's another story.) Come, learn how the better half live. No one can truly resist the urge to know what color underwear their favorite saviors sport underneath that skin-tight spandex, after all. The newshounds are here for a reason - they know a great story when they see one. But don't let them fool you, it takes more than the super-famous to keep a city running. Everyone has to pay their bills, take out their garbage, and get their groceries, no matter how many world leaders they've rescued from intergalactic kidnappers. Every cog in the massive machine that is Boomtown has its place, from the working stiffs to the elegant A-listers. The stories are generally a whole lot more interesting than what the paparazzi is reporting, too. A camera lens, however sneaky, can only see so much. And when you're dealing with heroes and villains, there's always more than what meets the eye. [29 Apr 2008|11:14pm] | PREMISE | APPLICATION | RULES | TAKEN CHARACTERS/PBs | FAQ | MOD JOURNAL | MAIN COMM | OOC COMM | At the northern reaches of the New York metropolitan area, nestled in the state's scenic Orange County, Mercury Falls was founded 1685. Traditional, the residents pride themselves on the peaceful normality of the town. However, not everyone sees this as a good thing. Children, growing and graduating, move on to what they see as bigger and better things. With nothing to bring in new blood, Mercury Falls, having celebrated its tricentennial and then some, seemed to have been given a "use-by" date. Mercury Falls High, once the pride of the town, was now decidedly average. In sports, they were win some, lose some. In academics, they fell comfortably somewhere in the middle of the achievement continuum. At least, that had always been the status quo, until about a year ago. The election of the new mayor brought about change. In the high school, grades started rising steadily, new classes were introduced and the Panthers had never had a better season. Grant money is rolling in and with it, new families and life. The town is once again flourishing, but for a troubling trend among certain students. As much as the town would like to deny and ignore it, at a disturbing rate, students are disappearing - going missing, committing suicide, running away. What is going on in Mercury Falls? [29 Apr 2008|11:27pm] May 2, 1998. The end of the war. The day considered to signify the importance the light side has against the dark side. Blood was shed and casualties were accumulated by both sides. But the end result was that Harry Potter had finally defeated the Dark Lord Voldemort and there would be no need to worry about anything like this happening again. Under the leadership of the newly-appointed Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt, those students that hadn't passed the N.E.W.T. exams due to the war were given the opportunity to take the exams the following year. Only if passed were the students allowed to take up their choice of occupation. The Minister also enacted another law that affected the recent graduates, as well. They would have to live in London or its suburbs in order for the Ministry to keep a tab on them. This was because the Ministry needed to be absolutely certain that there would be no formation of cults that could eventually lead to the next uprising. These young adults are forced to disclose all their personal information to the Ministry, such as birth name, date of birth, spouse (or significant other), address of residence, occupation, et cetera. Those that refuse to disclose the information are watched over with extra precaution. And in return, to keep everyone happy, the Ministry compensates monetarily to those that cooperate. But not everyone is happy with the situation that is presented to them. Mostly, the unhappy people don't want to stay in London or its suburbs, due to other obligations. They are trying to bring down the law and hope that it happens soon enough so that they can get on with their lives. Now that the year is 2002, will they succeed or just be pushed back into their places by the Ministry?
