eddie/harl investigate a duela problem
Who: Eddie and Harl
Where: Arkham
When: Recently
What: meeting some family~
Warnings: scary stuff probs apparently that is my new gimmick
The second Eddie returned to this door, he started consuming information. The man he was before had left him a treasure trove of things to read and learn. Everything from events that had happened in the doors, to who was trust worthy to what to do if everything went south. This man, who had holed himself up in a tiny apartment with books and files and computers, seemed like an old wizard nearing the end of his life. Love was lost, hope had gone too and now all that was left was to leave a chronicle for the next man to come along. When Eddie read his own words, memories trickled back. This was his home, his place of origin and yet he had no desire to end up the sad wreck the last man was. No more hiding who he was, no more playing priest to the masses. This Eddie only understood how to be a rogue and that was what he planned on doing.
His attention turned to Arkham pretty quickly. He had apparently helped build the security there and had (of course) plenty of eyes and ears on the inside. Everything seemed pretty ordinary. Incompetent doctors, broken patients, reports of ghosts seeping through the bricks. Foolishness. But, then Eddie came across an email he had received from one of the guards during the Damian crisis. It read:
Eddie,
This sounds nuts, but the guys have been seeing a girl down here. Red hair, white as hell. Every time we try to get a good look at her, she's gone. But Phil said he saw her face while patrolling down below. He said she looked like a clown. Even if it's just some street rat, if you could figure this shit out we'd sleep better at night. Phil don't even work here anymore.
-Marcus F.
Red hair and face like the clown wasn't something that rang any bells for Eddie. He researched the comic books the old wizard had stashed away and found one thing, one chilling solution to this riddle. Duela.
The only person he could trust to take with him down there was Harley. She would have perspective on what to do. Eddie's instincts told him that if this girl was just another Joker fanatic, she might end up like Harley. But, if she had ingested too much of Joker's toxin or (god forbid) was actually his daughter, killing her wasn't such a bad option. Eddie knew this was a rogue matter, that the bats wouldn't handle it right especially after one of their own died, so he and Harl had to make the call. So, he texted her Holidays are for visiting family and told her to meet him by the sewer entrance to Arkham. They'd navigate towards the underground tunnels that way. When she arrived, Eddie was in his full Riddler get up. A bright green suit with black question marks, bowler hat and domino mask. The riddled man leaned on a shiny, pretty looking cane that curled into a familiar question mark. He was missing all his tattoos and scars that she had seen before and he looked younger. Sharper. His colors, it seemed, were bright as ever.
