future kids meme

It's pretty much what is says on the tin. Creating future kids for favorite pairings in RP is nothing new, but it's hard to play those characters outside the medium for which they were created. Here's the place to play them, with each other; with their unsuspecting future parents, whatever.

How to Play:
  1. Post with your future kid character | mother/father | and any preferences. Or post with your canon or OC and let the future kids come to you, using the normal format (character name | fandom | preferences )
  2. Tag Others.
  3. Be awesome to each other.
  4. Have fun!

Felicity Smoak? I'm not married, that life isn't in the cards for me. We're friends.

Um, no. I mean, not no, but she changed her name.

Felicity Hale. She told me once that she considered the whole keeping her name or hyphenating thing, but then she said that grandma would have given her an earful and she didn't want to be the only one left out.

You're mistaken. I'm not married and if Felicity was going to get married someday, trust me, she could do a lot better than me.

I'm pretty sure that it's near impossible to forget your parents' names and stories without some massive intervention or trauma to the head. Or amnesia. Amnesia'd do it.

Wait, this is Vas Captio? The stories made it sound a lot more like....visually intimidating than this all over? Does this mean I'm going to be experimented on?

Oh my god! Seriously this is a cruel joke, super duper evil cruel joke! I may have just like broken the future, but I guess you can't break the future if it's not your fault, right? I'm going with that because the other option makes me want to punch someone.

They moved us out of the main dome a while ago. But we still haven't been sent home. I don't know, they haven't done one in a while. If you are who you say you are, maybe you are the experiment Where are you?

I remember overhearing about the main dome, but not this one. You always catch me when I'm listening I was wandering because I was trying to find my way out and now I'm just sitting here in a lobbyish area, I guess, making my angry face.

Well, more my pout face, but they're not that different, sort of.

Derek put down his journal and ran a hand through his hair before letting it come down, scrubbing his face. Even if she was baby Emily, she wouldn't remember them. There was no way; she'd been too little and they'd only been in her life for a week. Somehow, he'd fooled himself into thinking that this holding dome was just a temporary thing and that they were finished with their experimentation, but now he wasn't so sure.

He made his way to the lobby and was frustrated to see a handful of people milling around. There was a girl sitting, he could see that, but he couldn't see her face from where he was standing.

...but he could smell the wolf in the room and he didn't know if it was her or one of the others. His stomach twisted uncomfortably.

"Emily?" he called out uncertainly.

Shutting the journal, pen inside and all, Em wasn't sure if her...apparently baby!Dad (okay not baby because he was in his 20s, but in comparison to the one she knew...) thought she was nuts or if he was coming around to the same conclusion. Emily was definitely there. She had it worked out. Well, she was pretty sure she had it sort of figured out, anyway.

She was in the past...either that or her dad was in the future. Or maybe it was a limbo period in which two different times were thrown together. Either way....her dad was not quite her dad yet because he was young....not so young that he was eons away from when she was going to come along, but still.

Hearing her name, Em's chin shot up and she saw her dad...definitely a bit younger, but definitely her dad. Tossing her journal into the purse that was settled across her body, Emily stood in a fluid movement and gave an awkward wave. "Hi?--" She had to cut herself off before she called him dad, or daddy, figuring that he wouldn't quite appreciate that, considering the situation. One thing was sure, he was definitely her dad...scent and all was familiar. "I'm Em, or Emily, whichever....Hi."

The girl sitting on the bench moved when he spoke, and she looked up, making it possible to finally see her face. Derek stiffened. People were moving around them — leaving, arriving; just passing through — and the scent of the wolf hadn't shifted. It was coming from her.

Derek took a deep breath when she stood and Jesus fuck if she didn't look just like Felicity, awkward mannerisms and all. He couldn't tell if he wanted to laugh, cry, or throw up.

"Hi, Emily," he said, looking a little dazed and, if he was honest feeling it, too. What was he supposed to say to her? She looked like Felicity, she acted like Felicity. She babbled like Felicity, and she smelled like a wolf. A wolf that claimed to share his surname. If this wasn't an experiment — if this was real, then Derek was staring back at his future.

...and she was beautiful. And terrifying...

"Hi Da-erek." Emily had to change what she was going to say at the last moment, not finding it natural....at all to call him by his given name...rather than dad. Despite how awkward this all felt, Emily moved forward so that she was standing closer to her father, well, the man that would eventually become her father, anyway?

Despite the awkward wave and movements...even mannerisms, Emily did move with somewhat of a grace. And as she stopped and stood there in front of Derek she fidgeted, feeling...just weird.

"So, um, the good news is that I'm not here without my pack or people familiar to me...sorta kinda, anyway, yay!" Emily gave a little fistpump gesture, before realizing it was silly, dropping it to her side and clearing her throat. "But, uh, the bad news is that your plans for the future are definitely going to change...and sometime in your future when you get out of this place and everything you're going to have to deal with the tiny version of me and the thumb-sucking and tea parties and y'know the whole shebang..." Might as well tell the truth, right? "Well, unless the future is broken, anyway."

Hearing her stumble on his name and knowing what she'd been about to say made Derek's stomach twist uncomfortably and he swallowed thickly and shoved his hands into his pockets because he was reasonably sure that they were shaking. "You're like me..." he blurted out, thinking aloud unintentionally.

She called them pack. She made an awkward gesture and fidgeted when she was uncomfortable. ...and she was bluntly honest. Derek choked on a laugh of disbelief. The fucked up part was how badly he wanted to believe it; that she was his.

Derek's hands came back out of his pocket and he started to reach for her before letting his hands fall awkwardly back against his sides. "You look like her," he confessed. "Felicity." He paused and added in a voice that cracked as though he'd been thrown back into puberty, "your mom."

Blinking at the sudden announcement, Emily gave a nod. "Well, yeah, I mean....moms got some strong genes or whatever too, I'm sure, but....pretty sure no matter who you pair a werewolf in the genes win out?" She ended on a question, because she wasn't exactly sure, but she was most definitely a werewolf. She was just like her dad, and her aunt. Mom was the only one who wasn't, really.

The one good piece of news, though, was that her not quite!dad was starting to definitely come around to what was the truth. She didn't like the way his voice cracked, or the fact that he was standing off, still, but she understood it...at the same time.

"I get that a lot. And the whole...babbling like her thing." Emily gestured before reaching up to tuck some hair behind her ears. "She still y'know does that, and is probably a little worse than me, though." Em defended, shifting again. Her actual dad would have hugged her already, but...Em had to remind herself that this wasn't him...yet, and so she took a step back and then a half a step forward, not quite able to still herself. "So I'm, basically, this weird mix of the both of you. With a dash of aunt Cora thrown in. Though, not that much really. She's pretty grumpy..."

One of his hands closed into a fist at his side before opening again. He wanted to reach out and touch her. He wanted to make sure that she was real and tangible and not just some fucked up figment of his imagination that the Management had planted there; that he wasn't standing there talking to no one at all, looking like an idiot to anyone who happened to be passing him by.

"She does that a lot," he agreed, something of a smile starting to tug at the corners of his mouth before settling drawn again into something uncertain. "Cora's been through a lot," he defended reflexively. He wondered if she was more accurately "with a dash of" Laura and just didn't know any better because she'd never met her and never would. That made his stomach twist again and his chest ache.

His hand closed into a fist again, reopening once more; a nervous tick he didn't realize he had or was making. Derek took a deep breath and held it for a second, not really sure what to say. It came out in a soft huff after he'd held it for maybe a second too long. He could see that she was fidgeting, just like he was, but in her own way.

"...how, um..." he started, cleared his throat, and then continued, "...how old are you?"

"Oh! I know, I didn't mean that in a bad way! I hang out with Aunt Cora a lot...." Emily backtracked, not sure how exactly one could make a bad impression on their dad...their past dad, whatever, but she wasn't sure that she wasn't managing it, honestly. "We're all really close..." She tacked on in what felt like a lame way, to her, anyway.

"I'm sixteen." Em supplied the answer pretty easily, though, if she were a little more devious she might have upped her age a little bit. The thing was that she wasn't, really. "Is this too awkward? I mean, are you okay with this? This is really weird..."

Derek gave a little shrug to let her know he wasn't offended, or anything. Ever since finding out that Cora was alive, after all, Derek had made it his job to protect her any way that he could from giving up his spark to keep her alive down to the insignificant things like defending her personality.

Sixteen... "Uh, I don't...really know how to answer that. I'm still kind of processing proof that someday I get everything I always wanted and told myself I couldn't ever have, give me a minute..."
