future kids meme

It's pretty much what is says on the tin. Creating future kids for favorite pairings in RP is nothing new, but it's hard to play those characters outside the medium for which they were created. Here's the place to play them, with each other; with their unsuspecting future parents, whatever.

How to Play:
  1. Post with your future kid character | mother/father | and any preferences. Or post with your canon or OC and let the future kids come to you, using the normal format (character name | fandom | preferences )
  2. Tag Others.
  3. Be awesome to each other.
  4. Have fun!

[ You know I'm a sucker for the accidental fire/calming the pyro down trope we've got going with these two...]

Ryan's control was better!

It really was! She'd gotten better at controlling the accidental fires, taming fire, and the whole shebang. Now, that didn't mean that her control was perfect...not by any means. She just wasn't the teenager who spazzed and freaked out every time she turned around now.

She was an adult, after all...even if she was still in school, controlling her anxiety and freak outs came with the territory. Being out of her actual time made things kind of wonky all around, though, and usually exacerbated things. So, when the couch caught fire....there was the tiniest of moments when she felt like this was par for the course.....and y'know...routine. The rest of her, though, went into panic mode.

She was in such a panic that the fact that Aaron was on his way over...yeah, she forgot that. Her homework was left open on the table, and the couch didn't take long to spark the lampshade, trying to spread and...well, eat the entire apartment. "Oh, no, no, no, no no...." Ryan whimpered as she turned to head for the extinguisher....only for the crack and pop of the fire blowing the light bulb and lamp forced her back.

"Oh god....oh jesu--" Then cue the smoke alarm. "No, shut up, oh my god! Don't scream at me!" Ryan was starting to cry, the tears welling up, but she forced herself to take a breath and turned to the couch...and the lamp...and the table that were on fire, throwing her hands out and gritting her teeth as she began to focus, doing her best to try and keep the fire from spreading even further. She was making some headway, the fire shrinking so that it was focused mainly on the couch.

"Come ON! Damn it...." Ryan sobbed, her fear of burning the apartment building down, of letting the fire lose, of losing more control creeping up. She was afraid to let it go, afraid to turn her back on it, and she could feel the fire....it was itching to grow, to consume, and damned if she didn't feel at a complete loss as to what to do.

It was kind of nice, admittedly, to have Ry be the right age. Well. No. She wasn't the right age, she was just age appropriate for him, really, but all the same, it was nice. She grew up nice, he had to admit, but moreover he felt like maybe there was something to this whole friendship that they never would've thought about in their own timelines because of the age gap that existed there, that was worth looking into now that they were here and she was older. And hot. GOd, she was so hot.

He was on his way over to visit, at the end of the hall as he emerged from the elevator and immediately, he heard someone's smoke alarm screaming. It had to be Ryan. Aaron broke into a run toward her apartment. When he got to the door, he opened it slowly, half because he wasn't really in the mood to get his eyebrows singed off today and half because he knew that if he just burst in there, whatever control she might've been able to regain over her flames would be lost with the surprise.

"Ryan," he called out, looking sympathetic as he closed the door and edged around the couch to reach her. She was crying and he hated seeing her cry. Not that it wasn't warranted when she was this stressed out and worried, but he still hated to see her hurting like that. "Hey, deep breath. It's okay, you can do this, you've done it before. Take a deep breath, just try to relax first."

Just like it always did, Aaron's mere presence made a difference automatically. Ryan had been close with him off and on since she'd been a teenager. And he's always been able to keep his cool whiles he was flipping out, which was, admittedly, more often than your average person.

Ryan sort of wanted him to just run and get the fire extinguisher and save the day.

The only problem with that was she didn't know how much juice it had in it. And this was even with the fact that she always had one on hand....one of the necessities with being a pyro. The tears were still falling, and even with them coming out and her short bursts, Ryan attempted to listen to the advice, her breath shaky. "God, I was doing so good, I haven't started one this big in a while!" Ryan got out, only to force herself to stop. "But that is not helping, so..." She let out a burst of breath and shut her eyes before she did her best to focus, relaxing....was definitely the harder part because she was incredibly afraid. Still, though, the fire was shrinking.

Sniffling, Ryan focused even harder and the fire managed to shrink down to half it's size, but after a moment she peeled her eyes open, seeing it. "Come on, just die already...." She didn't want to disappoint Aaron and she didn't want to struggle. And the little burst of annoyance with the fire, apparently managed to do the job because the fire...well...it puttered out. And that left Ryan standing there, both upset and surprised. "I did it?"

Aaron moved behind her, putting his hands on her shoulders and giving them a little squeeze. "You're still doing fine, accidents happen," he said in a way that he hoped was reassuring. His hands were moving on his friend's shoulders, massaging them in an attempt to help her relax, because he knew that when she was freaking out, the fires had a tendency to stress, rather than shrink.

"There you go," he said in a soft, low voice, leaning in to speak into her ear as the fire started to get smaller. She expressed frustration at the flames and that seemed to do the trick, making Aaron smile a little before taking a step back with one last squeeze to her shoulders. "See? You're fine. It's fine," he assured her.

...you know, except for the part where half her apartment was singed from the flames.

Ry really wasn't so sure that she was doing fine, though. What would have happened if he hadn't come along? Would she have been able to get the flames clamped down like she had? Maybe, but she still worried either way. Aaron, though, he had come along and he was that comforting presence. She could count on him. Between his hands on her shoulders and the words of encouragement, a difference was definitely made.

She'd pretty much always been able to count on him, and that was definitely a good thing, at least.

Letting out a pretty big breath, Ryan finally relaxed, well, physically anyway. It was hard to really shut the mind down, staring at her singed apartment. "Except that it ate my couch." Ryan whined, turning to look away from the scene of the crime and at him, instead, reaching up to rake a hand through her hair and sliding it down until it covered her face...accompanied by a sniffle because her tears were, at least, drying up.

"I'm sorry..." Ryan apologized, automatically, knowing that it couldn't be fun to come over to find a raging fire started and a spazzed out...her. No matter how fond he was of her, and she of him.

"Yeah, well..." Aaron started, shrugging a little and offering her a small smile. "Renter's insurance will take care of that. You do have renter's insurance, right?" he asked, lifting his eyebrows.

She could always get a new couch. The important thing was that she hadn't gotten hurt. Aaron knew how frustrating it was for her to not have complete control, but as far as he remembered, her mother didn't even have it until a few years before she was born; Ryan had a ways to go before she'd be able to perfect it.

"Stop it," he said, frowning sympathetically as he moved closer, pulling her into a hug "Come on, don't be sorry."
