Two against the world That's how it was supposed to be. Two against the world -- before military men who liked to huff drugs decided to fuck everything up and destroy something that Cherry was beginning to call home. She would have been completely content jumping from one random job to another. Hell, if she had to choose between dancing at Skip's or losing her leg -------- fuck that, she would have picked losing her leg over Skip's any day of the week. She really couldn't be upset about what happened, it really did change her life. Maybe even for the better. Sure, it scared her shitless, but it was the kind of scaring she needed to make a change. She couldn't keep running from the past, she couldn't keep hiding behind insecurities and useless talents. She had talent and all it took was confidence from one person to learn that. Of course, that confidence didn't come easy, first he ripped her heart out, smashed her reality and broke her down to completely NOTHING. She knew he couldn't help it, El Wray never was good with his words. Still, it didn't help that during a time when she needed him most, he was willing to toy with her emotions. It took every ounce of courage she could muster to walk out on him that day. It took all she could to never turn back and it took so much more to find it in her to get up each morning. She went to Skip's in desperation, she needed cash and he was the answer for an easy dollar. Of course, the fact that she ended every dance in tears didn't help her pocket, she was still making bank.
So, in all honesty, she couldn't HATE the sickos for showing up. They brought her closer than she ever thought she could be with El Wray. They gave her the courage to follow whatever fucked up dream she had. While, she couldn't hate the sickos for showing up, she could hate them for taking El Wray away from her. She could blame them, and curse them to their grave. Just when it seemed like everything might actually be all right - they were going to put their backs to the ocean and defend themselves that way - everything was destroyed. She was in the right mind to just allow the sickos to kill her until Dakota reminded her one very important rule. When she's stuck in that downward spiral, all she had to do was reach up. That's exactly what she did, and she was prepared to move on, this time stronger.
That was until she woke up in Petersen's office.
Everything she learned in Texas was completely thrown out the window. Sure, she showed up while zombies were attacking the "resort", but after that? After that she learned that she was actually a photocopy of someone from a movie, and that this resort she was working in was built for people who were massive fans of the movies and other genres that the employees came from. On top of that?! El Wray showed up and threw Cherry into an even more confusing spiral. She didn't know what to say to him, she was completely prepared to move on. She was ready to accept his death and just keep his memory in her mind. Then he shows up like everything is just fine? That didn't sit well for Cherry, especially since she all ready cried over him.
Two against the world....
"Fuck that..." Muttering under her breath, Cherry flipped the page of the magazine she was reading. Sitting on a stool behind the counter at the Ridgeway Resort Gift Shop, dark gaze scanned over the articles, completely ignoring the people browsing the shelves. One man actually looked up at her as she muttered. Glancing warily at the gun leg bobbing up and down, he shook his head and opened his mouth about to speak.
"Yes, it's a real gun." Cherry cut him off before he could say anything more. She didn't bother to pull her eyes off of the magazine as the man just nodded and placed what he had in his hand back on the shelf and moved to the other side of the store. "Fuck you, too..." She grumbled as she turned the page and rolled her eyes. She didn't give this job much thought. It was a mindless task, and Cherry really had no patience for the customers. Most of them didn't even come in to buy anything, they just wanted to stare at her gun leg and ask her stupid questions. She really didn't have much tolerance for people and the fact that suddenly all over them decided they wanted to be honest with her? Well, it just made things more annoying for her.
That was another thing! This sudden infestation of truth speakers... it was driving her crazy. Cherry was effected, of course, but it wasn't that obvious for her since she always spoke her mind. She didn't care what people had to say to her, or what they thought of her, or what they wanted to hear. She said what was on her mind regardless of feelings. Sure, it got her into trouble a lot of the time, but she wasn't really the type to sugar coat her words.
Yawning, she turned the page of the magazine and propped her elbow on the counter to rest her chin in the palm of her hand. This job was boring.
