[Woods: Gwen/Melody/The Sheriff]
[Gwen had no idea how Melody communicated with Sheriff Martin, but she was fairly sure it was Sheriff Martin that Melody had been talking to. She tried to comprehend Melody's ability, but Gwen found that challenging, because she didn't have a good grasp of advanced technology. Her area of interest was biology, and that was a mainly personal interest, since no one could agree on her rate of cellular decay, and it seemed important that she understand the discussions about her own potential lifespan. But Melody's ability seemed to involve some kind of mental manipulation of technology, and Gwen was at a loss.
She was at a loss about a lot of things.
For example, she totally had no idea where they were. She'd never been in this part of the woods. It was in the opposite direction of the abandoned tracks with their chalk flower garden, and her only other outing had involved going to the diner for apple pie, and this section of the woods was nowhere near Main Street or apple pie.
She didn't like feeling super useless. She didn't like feeling super scared either, but she did feel scared. Every time a twig snapped, she was sure it was Hood. She knew he'd come after her. She wasn't sure if Melody's dad would come, but Hood would definitely come, and Gwen needed a hiding place before that eventuality came to pass.]
It's getting super late. [She couldn't see the moon straight over the canopy now, and it was crazy cold. The white medical scrubs and baby-blue hoodie the tiny blonde wore, they weren't very warm. She paced, bare hands tucked deep into her pocket, and her breath causing the air around her to fog. The piercings at her eyebrow and nose were fresh, angry red against her cold-pale skin, and her blonde hair was starting to freeze in places, even in that new blue streak.] If anything weird happens. If he doesn't promise he won't take us back, then we run in different directions, okay? He can't chase us both.
