It had been a week, a week since she had heard from him and apparently a lot had happened in the week. Lydia couldn't wait any longer. She was worried and concerned and frankly, very very confused. The things she was hearing from George were just adding to her confusion. Higgs asked for a divorce from Alicia? Sure she had heard Alicia's side of things, and what he had told George, but she hadn't talked to him herself. A part of her was hoping that maybe what she was hearing wasn't the full truth and this was all a big miscommunication.
Okay so maybe that was a long stretch but Lydia found it only fair that she heard his side. Besides he left for two weeks and she didn't know why. In addition, he missed their birthdays and overall he just was being quieter than normal and it wasn't okay. If she hadn't had those dreams of her alternate life with Higgs, she might be less concerned. However, she knew what happened to him there and didn't know if maybe it wasn't so different here. So she decided a week was long enough. Lydia was stepping in.
It had been a busy morning for her. It was her first day with her new job and so the morning was spent moving desks and meetings with supervisors so lunch seemed to come quickly for her. Once she was able to, she took the elevator to Higgs' floor, walked determined into his office and stopped at his desk with her hands on her hips. "Get up, we are going to lunch," she said, not even caring if everyone else was looking at her like she was crazy.
