Well at least he wasn't suicidal, Lydia thought thankfully. It wasn't exactly what she was asking, but still it was a good thing to know. If he was Lydia wasn't exactly sure what to do, reach out to his sister and Marcus for sure. They knew him much longer and would have known what to do. In fact, Lydia might still end up doing that, depending on how this conversation went. However she wasn't sure if that would betray some sort of trust Higgs was putting in Lydia. It was hard to figure out who all knew what and she certainly wasn't going to ask him that at the moment, not when she felt they were making some sort of progress.
"Well as weird as this may sound I'm glad to hear that you aren't suicidal, not so much the part about you not doing well," she said as she started putting the dressing on her salad and mixing it up. "You're distancing yourself from people you care about in case something does happen though, and that isn't okay Higgs. In times of grief and whatever you are going through, it is better to stay close to them." Okay now she sounded like a therapist. Clearly she had done too much research.
"What are you doing to help yourself so that you get better, so you are okay?" Okay, so maybe that was too forward and rude of her to say, but she cared, really, really cared about him. Maybe she should just fess up. They were in a public place right? He couldn't totally freak out on her here could he? Would he? Well there was only one way she knew. "I'm sorry for pressuring but how do I say this?" she groaned in frustration. "Remember when that whole alternate universe stuff came out and I told you we were married? Well you were in the muggle army there too and something happened to you, an explosion, and you ended up in the hospital. Once you got out, you, well frankly you weren't yourself," Lydia paused and looked up at him, hoping he wasn't thinking she was totally crazy. "You got help, and you were doing better, and I think, that maybe that's what happening here."
