For someone who wasn't a Slytherin, Lydia was very sneaky, Higgs decided as he watched her pay for their food. Perhaps if they weren't talking about death of all things, Higgs would've been more efficient at insisting to pay for his food. For no other reason than personal, morbid amusement, Higgs decided that Lydia had intentionally engineered this conversation to distract him from paying for his own food. "In a way," he replied as they walked towards the table. Higgs wasn't quite worried about the exact situation Cassie was in, for a multitude of reasons, but it was part of it, he supposed.
Once they sat down, Higgs gave a soft sigh at Lydia's question. "I'm not suicidal, if that's what you're asking," he commented honestly, before pausing. "Is that what you're asking?" It certainly was contextually fitting, but Higgs supposed it might not be all she was asking. Dipping a piece of bread in his soup, Higgs thought about how to answer her question more effectively than 'no, I'm not about to kill myself'. "I don't think I am okay," he finally settled on. "Not in the same way Johnny wasn't okay, but I guess I worry that maybe that could be me," that was about as honest of an answer as Higgs could give right now.
