Selene had an idea. Many of them in fact. None of which she knew much about. She was not a Christian woman. However, the strange events occurring brought to mind a very common book of Christian prophecy contained within the Bible. While she would not go as far to call it holy, it held the information she was interested in. Poisoned water, man slaying man, it was familiar to her….the thought had formed upon reading a post on the boards. They carry their Kings. Check them and they will topple. The last bit made little sense to her, that she would figure out later.
The word apocalypse was getting tossed about rather frequently. It was that common use of the word combined with the strange comment that had brought her to the book store. In English, apocalypse is often rendered as revelation and the literal meaning of the Greek word is unveiling.
Stepping into the old book store she was assaulted by the musty stench of old paper and moth balls. Just a hint of the cedar shelves breaking through the aroma of the antique texts that lined them. It took several phone calls to find exactly what she was looking for.
At the counter she waited for the elderly man, who spoke very broken English, to bring her what she requested. Much was lost in translation. So, she sought out the book as it was written, the Old Testament in Hebrew and Aramaic, the New Testament in Greek. It mattered very little to her that she did not know Hebrew or Aramaic; she had no need for the Old Testament. With the hefty book in hand she curled up in an old leather chair near the window. The heels she wore fell from her feet as she pulled her legs under her frame. The pages of the book crackled as she opened them, turning them over one by one, searching for the chapters of revelation.
