The old man in the counter had left immediately after the conversation began. Funny thing, he sworn he had eaten and yet he felt so hungry; famished enough to not close the store while he looked for food in the back door.
“Really? That’s kind of you, miss. Thank you.” He sat down to the chair next to Selene’s. By all appearances, his face frowned in concentration to jog his memories. “I don’t remember where the passage is,” Famine lied, shaking his head and rubbing at one of his temples. “When I reach the exact page, I’ll recognize what I’m looking for.”
“I understand.” He shook his head, replying in a sympathetic tone. “That’s what we had in the beginning, and what matters in the end.”
“Doctor Raven Sable,” he introduced himself, stretching his hand to shake hers. “Nice to meet you. Miss…?”
