[Mood | blah]

*having spent quite a few weeks at sea, comes to shore near Cape Balar* *doesn't even attempt to re-enter Delving because all the talkings-to in the world won't make the springs and rivers and pipes change their minds about admitting him*

*shaking the water out of his hair (and skin and bones), ambles into his favourite pub in this part of the world - the Anchorman* *is surprised to pick up on unexpected, but familiar, strains of Maiar music in the vicinity*

[Mood | cranky]

...I don't know, I was just surprised that the winning region submitted a song for the Belerivision Song Contest. Was that a bit of an unfair advantage? I mean, this contest hasn't been about music for a long time. I expected insane, surreal dance routines involving mimes, breakdancers, sequined body-suits and burlesque dancers. I expected broken Sindarin sung in an appalling Noldorin accent. I expected the Telerin regions to vote for eachother, I expected the Noldorin regions to vote for eachother, I expected the mortal regions to get nul points. I expected tuneless wailing.

I didn't expect an actual song. It's a catchy to the point of irritation, insidious, brain worm of a song, but it's a song nevertheless. That just came out of left-field. Am I reading this wrong? Let me know what you think after I play the winning entry. Again. Because I'm contractually obliged to.

[Mood | working]

It's that time of year again, the Virtuoso awards will soon be upon us, biggest event in the musical calendar and all that jazz. I know there are those who say it's just the music industry patting itself on the back, promoting business instead of music but honestly? I like them. They're fun, they celebrate talent, they're surpisingly inclusive annnnnd they give me a freebie bag every year.

So give us your thoughts on the virtuosos, who are you betting on this year? Was there anyone you think was overlooked this year? Who wuz robbed last year? Or just call in with your favourite recipes for soup, or whatever, I don't care, I'll still get my freebies.

So give us a call, hope to hear from some of you after this; this is The Kinslayers with When You Were Young.

*Turns off the mic and hums along.*

'Cause he doesn't look a thing like Manwë...doo do do dee do do dooo dooo...

[Mood | complacent]

*Following that rather uncomfortable exchange, decides to scope out what's happening in the live music scene.*

*Heads to Ossiriand and wanders between various venues, looking for something that strikes his fancy.*

*Happens upon a studenty-looking joint and reads the sign outside.*

"Open mic night." That's always good for a laugh.

*Goes inside, gets himself a beer and takes a seat.*

*Crawls out of bed early in the afternoon, instnatly regretting the all night drinking/heart to heart session with Manwë.*

*Grabs a pint of water for himself and shuffles into the living room.*

*Turns on the TV and is instantly astounded by what by he's seeing on every news channel.*

*Throws a cushion at the blanket-covered heap sleeping on his sofa.*

Wake up.

*So, Manwë. You've been a crap husband, you've had a massive fall-out with your wife and she's turfed you out. WHAT are you going to do now?*

I'm going to Seaworld.

*Heads into the park with his season ticket, a small suitcase and a six-pack of beer.*

*Wanders down the underwater viewing tunnel, while completely ignoring the confused stares of the staff and other visitors.*

*Presses his thumb-print to an apprently normal-looking segment of the tunnel, which opens a door to a secret passage leading to a certain underwater palace.*

*Rings the doorbell when he gets there.*

[Mood | working]

...And for those of you who have just tuned in, today we're talking about dumping ettiquette; do you let 'em down gently, give them the silent treatment, kick em to the curb, or go for the classic Dear John letter, what is the best way to end a relationship, a fling, a thang? Anyone have any horrific break-up stories, do call in. I'm sure there are some positive ones too but let's face it, the horrific ones are far more entertaining.

Keep the song suggestions coming in, so far we've had Human Kindred League's Don't You Want Me Baby, I'm not in Love, by 10cc and Heartbreak Hotel. Come on people, these are obvious. Try harder. Lines are open.

[Music |The Best of Dylan Conway]

*finishes studying the transcripts from Ulmo's latest request show*

*feeds all of the information into a spreadsheet and comes up with some very pretty piecharts that show just how much time Mr. Conway spends flirting with his callers*

*also analyses the number of prank calls and comes to the conclusion that Ossë must be well outside mobile phone coverage because of the dramatic decrease in prank calls this past month*

*steps out of her office (which is approximately the same size and proportions as a broom closet) to hunt for some coffee*

[Music |Mithrilicca: Pastor of Muppets.]

*Jabbers into the microphone having taken several caffiene pills on top of his usual coffee fix.*

Here's something interesting for anyone in the Ossiriand area, the university's fine arts department is hosting a special exhibition by one Nerdanel Mahtaniel, very talented lady so do check that out if you're in the vicinity. So that's the Fine Arts department from...*Calls to his producer* When's the exhibition open? My magic bits of paper here aren't telling me squat.

...

Check our website! That'll tell you, the industrious little Linqil FM pixies will no doubt have the information up there. Or, you know, ask the University, it's a seat of learning, they're bound to know. But, if you're not of the artistic persuasion, check out the Two Trees pub, there's a live jazz set there every Thursday, lots of fine musicians to see. You might even see me there one day. What do I play, I hear you ask? Well, ever since I was child, I played on the linoleum.

If that's not your bag...well tell us what is your bag. Give us a call, let us know what you're up to this weekend, we love to live vicariously through our listeners. But first here's a track from a great band. If Manwë had a favourite band, it would be these guys. Yes, it's the Eagles.

*Turns down the volume on his microphone*
*twitches* I hate mornings.
