*is having a pretty swell first day in Gondolin, so far!*
*tours around till dark with Jackie, hitting a little Italian place for dinner between sight-hopping (and damn, he wasn't kidding about the chef's terrible beer special, but the food was worth it!)* *the Flower site was pretty neat, too, especially considering the Before pictures posted up in one of the admin trailers*
*eventually finds himself and his stalkee tour guide in tow for beer and poker with Mac (another House's Second) and Edrahil (introduced as "the Queen's lackey"), which turns out to be the most informative entertaining part of the day* *is almost sorry to finally pack it in (whoa, it's already one AM?), but on the plus side, has the car ride to his hotel to look forward to*
*turns to Jackie as soon as they're both in the car, grinning broadly* Okay, I have to ask—exactly how true is that hornet-turkey story? |

*right then! owes certain people a Sandwich (or five)* *...okay, so Buttercup's skipped town (what the friggin' eff?), but Bubbles shouldn't be too hard to track down*
*sticks several foil-wrapped sandwiches of various make in a plastic bag and heads out* *as planned, meets Egalmoth at the Fountain's main gate* What's up, Eggs? D'ya bring the stuff? |

*in the midst of saving his household (and watching his house disappear in a plume of thick black smoke and crashing masonry), has been coordinating the transfer of intelligence from House to House (within reason)*
*finally gets a moment to catch up on the latest pile of dispatches - Swallow: flood; Harp: fire; Flower: fire; Fountain: flood; and Archer: firing; all accounted for and Blower: white noise; minimal injuries and Gardener: working; 3 in gmh icu and Piper: down; 2ic 1ic* *pauses at the last (Ecthelion?), his fingers tightening on the paper, almost enough to tear it, but it's OK; even if his heart skips a beat or five, he's lived this before and he remembers what to do and that is to keep fighting because Gondolin comes first* *continues shepherding his people to safety and continues to fire reports from his House to the Hammer to the Palace and remembers occasionally to breathe (although it grows harder as it grows darker and Ecthelion?)*
*and somehow it is dark and he is left standing at the site of the Flower and it is burning embers but 'under control' and one by one, he goes through the day's last dispatches (Archer, Blower, Gardener, Piper, Driver, Cooker, Climber, Builder, Flier, Teacher) and slowly, so slowly, gets into his car and drives to the Fountain, stopping at every red light because he has to know for himself* |
