Hi guys, this is Mel, and this is Dr Stephen Strange, not yet Sorcerer Supreme, but with plenty of magic making his fingers twitch. Or maybe that's the nerve damage.
Basic background - arrogant and gifted neurosurgeon, got into a car wreck and smashed up his hands, promptly wasted his fortune on snake oil cures until he found his way to Tibet and a magical master known as The Ancient One, who taught him inner peace and ~magic~.
That was all within the last few years; just last year he returned to New York to take possession of the Sanctum Sanctorum, and is officially available to make house calls for magical crises.
Plots! Anyone knew the guy before he became all magicfied? anyone want to meet him now that he's running around the streets of Greenwich in an impressive red cloak?
