Even with a place to stay, Natsu was still prone to wandering, asking people at random if they needed help with anything. Sometimes it worked out, sometimes it didn't. It was starting to look like he'd have to get what counted as a real job here sometime soon. He was still getting used to how things were here. That most people didn't have magic or powers of any kind and overall it was all just weird. Not at all like it was back in Fiore. One of these days, he'd get used to it. Just like the people here had to get used to seeing things like flying blue cats and kids like him everywhere with random colored hair or whatever. That was just life in Preya. A bunch of random tossed together. Might as well start warming up to the idea that this was the norm from now on.
Crossing long distances wasn't a huge issue as long as Happy didn't complain. Only he almost always did. "Geeze, Natsu! Have you put on more weight? You're feelin' pretty pudgy to me!" Which meant a lot of their flights to and from were filled with bickering and usually ended with Natsu walking them back. At least to the nearest place it looked like they could sleep for the night. They weren't looking to crash just yet though.
He heard that there was more magic in Everdale, even that there were dragons, so he just had to check it out. Not that he thought he'd find a dragon he was familiar with here, but lookin' never hurt anybody. What he wasn't expecting to see were jags of ice sticking out from some trees while they were flying over. For a second, he felt excitement. Could it be Gray? He couldn't smell him from up here, but he snapped at Happy to land in a hurry as close as they could. As soon as his feet hit the ground, Natsu took off in the direction of the ice. "HEY GRAY!! IS THAT YOU?!" But when he got closer and skidded to a stop, it wasn't the dark haired ice wizard he was familiar with that he saw.
"Damn it. You're not Gray," he snapped his fingers, crossing his arms over his chest while he looked at this kid with two toned hair, not really making the connection they talked over the journals.
