RP: G and Sam
Who: G Callen and Sam Hanna
Where: Burbank, CA -- Marriott hotel
When: Monday/Tuesday, May 9/10, 2011 -- sometime in the wee hours of the morning
Summary: Target acquired. But, some are still a little wired.
Get some sleep. Still have loose ends to tie up in the morning.
After seeing the tac team made it into the air with the two newest unwitting recruits to ICIS and dismissing his unit to their rooms, G entered the room he shared with Sam still wired from the adrenaline rush. Maybe it hadn't turned out to be the most dangerous mission ever. But, they'd been out, doing something, and G had never been able to settle after closing a case. Even while they did still have some loose ends to tie up, it was clean-up. The main objective was complete and he was still going to be high strung and on the edge for some time before he could settle enough for sleep.
Normally, he'd have gone for a night run or a drive up the coast. He might still have, even now, to cool off the excess energy. But, with the alternating shifts for surveillance and the weirdness that had been sitting stakeout with Savannah, he was feeling strangely like he needed the touchstone that was Sam. Being out there on his own without Sam was one thing. He knew Sam would be there if he called. Being out there with Savannah was different. It put him even more on edge because he couldn't relax into the job the way he could with Sam. Sharp as she was, she wasn't an agent. She didn't think like one. And she had no experience. He couldn't just worry about himself and count on Sam to handle things unless things got wild. Even in a standard op, he was worrying most about Savannah and keeping her safe.
They were 'home' and it was still weird.
"I'm too wired," he told his partner -- he was always going to think of Sam as his partner, no matter that he had a second one or not -- as he started shucking gear and clothes in an attempt to settle. "If you're ready to sack out, I can stay here at the table with the laptop so you can sleep."
