RP: Party at the Club
Who: Everyone
Where: the base
When: February 24, 2011
Summary: It's a real party

The beauty of this reorganization was that he had a lot more free time available. Sure he had to deal with Hetty, but she wasn't bad for a woman, and she was witty, something that he appreciated. However, it still meant that he had time to fix the club the way he wanted.

He had to do it cheaply, of course, but he was resourceful when he needed to be. First they got rid of all those horrible tables. They were replaced by mismatched sofas left by soldiers that had moved elsewhere or from offices not used anymore. The next step was the walls. Again, it didn't take much, cheap full lenght mirrors, stripped of the frames and glued to the sheet rocks all around, while the walls in the sitting area were covered in sheer white fabric that would turn into a purplish color under the right light. There was also a cube of wood that they had quickly painted white on one side. They might never use it, but maybe he could convince a person or two to dance there. Finally the lights. Again, things could be done cheaply. Darkness was the key. He got the boys to get the lights that IKEA sold for inside drawers and put them at the bar so the bar tender could see without needing too much light. Then strobe lights, which weren't as expensive as people thought.

With the room ready, the music was the last touch. Brian had been listening to current dance and pop music since his arrival, but he was no expert, and he asked one of the soldiers who seemed to know what he was doing to create a few CDs with songs. They'll work up to a live DJ, but this was pretty good for the time being.

They were ready for a party.

Kensi/Deeks
[info]kensi_blye
2011-02-24 09:34 pm UTC (link)
Kensi had heard about the party through her team and had decided to drop by. A beer or two wouldn't hurt and if there was any awkwardness like the night she'd arrived, she would just leave without making a fuss. Sam could say what he wanted about needing them to all be a team but Kensi wasn't going to be the only one making an effort if Savannah didn't bother to.

Spotting a familiar face at the bar, Kensi smiled and walked up to Marty.

"Hey," She ordered two beers from the barman, one for her old partner. "How have you been, Deeks? Other than crying into your pillow every night pining for me to come and put you out of your misery with Sam and G," she teased. "Does Hetty come to these things? Seems like we don't see her as much here."

Marty had a moment on his own during the party and found his old partner offering him a beer. "Hey there." He snorted and shook his head. "You must think I'm dumb or something if you think for a second I thing you're here to save me from Sam and Callen." Marty smirked as she teased him - at least there would be another dose of the familiar with Kensi here.

"She's made an appearance or two when invited, but really can you see Hetty at something like this?" It was one thing something like the New Years' Eve party but thinking about Hetty in a place like this at a party planned by Kinney of all people it was probably a good idea that she avoided it. "She's not around as much as she used to be." Marty agreed. "She's still there though - like always." He shrugged.

"How have you been?" He hadn't really gotten a chance to really talk with Kensi, thanks to the rather interesting reintroduction they'd had earlier in the week.

"Well no but at least my arrival will distract them from getting on at you for a while," she said with a smirk. "Small mercies, right?"

Kensi took a long sip of her beer and licked her lips. "Good to see that the beer still stays the same in this dimension and Hetty does whatever we least expect so yeah, I guess I wouldn't be surprised to see her here," she answered. "I hope we see her more. Hetty has a strange way of flattening the tension."

"Settling in," she replied after a moment's hesitation. "Sorry if I caused you any problems the other night but I didn't know she was so... Christian. Or that you were dating. I'd just heard you were all living with a cheerleader."

"Maybe for five minutes, but I'll take it." He chuckled he could take the small mercies where he could find them.

"Not everything is different, just most things." He told her. "It's still something we're getting used to - or I am at least." Maybe the others were more sorted than he was, he wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. "Yeah, she does."

Marty shook his head, "No it's fine, well maybe not fine, but you didn't know." He shrugged, he didn't blame Kensi for what happened. He knew what it was to meet Savannah for the first time after all. "We're not really broadcasting it to the rest of the world, you know?"

"Doesn't mean I'll tease you any less however," she said, knocking her beer against his before taking another sip of it. "You upped and left before I could even pull out the big guns."

She looked at him more carefully. "And are you getting used to it?" she asked, trying to keep her tone casual. "I can imagine it must take a while to have it all sink in. I've tried not to think about it too much, y'know? I figure I'll do that once I've got a routine sorted."

"So how did that happen anyway? Did you bond over herkies?" she asked with a grin. "Or did she give you tips on how to wash your cheerleading uniform?"

Nate: open
[info]_narchibald
2011-02-24 11:15 pm UTC (link)
Nate had been looking forward to the party since Savannah had sent him the email. He knew it wouldn't be a party on the scale he was used to and that he'd have to lower his expectations but he'd learned over the years that the best parties sometimes happened in the most unexpected places. It was the people who made a party, not the venue, and Nate had met some seemingly nice people since he'd arrived the week before. Things weren't as bad as he'd first thought they might be.

This would be one of the first parties in a while where nobody would have an agenda.

Not on the scale of Chuck or Blair anyway.

Having had a few drinks, Nate sat down on one of the many sofas with a bottle of beer. He was pleasantly buzzed and happy to either talk or enjoy his own company, depending on whether somebody came over.

Brian was loving the club. It wasn't perfect, it wasn't the best, and it wasn't anywhere as good as Babylon, but it was better than anything they'd had before. He planned to make it even better with time. However, tonight, he could focus on enjoying himself.

There were too many breeders here, and Brian tried to avoid them, letting them entertain each other. Instead, he focused on one person he knew that he was less than straight. He sat down, or more accurately sprawled over the couch, on hand on Nate's thigh. "Are you enjoying yourself, Handsome?" he asked, moving so close that his lips were brushing against Nate's ear.

Nate wasn't completely surprised when Brian joined him on the couch, knowing already that the other man didn't like hanging around women and that hanging around straight men was a waste of his time.

He smiled when he felt Brian's mouth and hand but didn't move, not sure how he felt about being so open out in, well, the open. "I am," he replied. "It's good to get out and not have to think about training or weapons or anything else."

"Not quite what I'm used to but you did well," He rested his arm on the back of the sofa. "How about you? You having a good time?"

Brian made a face at the thought of training and weapons. The weights and running wasn't bad. It was something he did at home, but he had no interest in fighting and ruining his manicure, and guns were best left in stores. "This is definitely better than the stuff they like."

He didn't go far as he pulled back, head resting on Nate's shoulder. Brian laughed. "Have you seen this place? It's not what I'm used to either. It's a good set up, but I'm going to have fun tomorrow night when this crowd isn't here." He turned his head to look at Nate and smirked. "Although things are looking up." He reached into his pocket and kept his hand around the joint so only Nate could see. "Would you like to join me for some private fun later?"

"Come on, it's not that bad. Could be way worse, man," he replied. "And I'd rather be doing something constructive than nothing at all."

"I don't even go to clubs that much. Private parties in and out of the City is more my scene," he said with a small smile. "I think you'd like the luxury of it but not the people."

Nate's smile widened into a grin when he saw the joint and he looked at Brian. "If you're willing to share then sure," He arched an eyebrow. "How did you get it?"

Neal: Open
[info]_caffrey
2011-02-24 11:19 pm UTC (link)
To say this wasn't Neal Caffrey's scene was a gross understatement - Neal had never been to parties like this in his entire life and didn't really understand why he was suddenly being punished. No bars, no expensive drinks, no women - or jewels - to admire. It was practically jail all over again and what was worse was that if he didn't attend, he looked rude when there were so few people here.

Besides, Kinney had organized it and Neal had shared a room with him when they were on their field trip. He felt he owed it to the man to at least turn up and take a look at the joint.

Holding a beer - he didn't dare ask for wine in a place like this - Neal stayed at the bar and surveyed the scene at leisure. He'd have a couple of drinks and beat a hasty exit once Brian had seen he was there.

A quick escape was the best option by far.

"So what do you think?" Peter asked as he sidled up to Neal, of all the parties they'd had in the last several months since they arrived there, this was by far the furthest removed from anything Peter had done since he'd been a college student.

He leaned on his elbow against the bar and looked at Neal briefly before he did a once over of the rest of the club again. "Think anyone would notice if we made a break for it?" He had a feeling if he was feeling out of place at this thing, then Neal was most definitely at that same place.

"How about you create a distraction and I'll meet you at the car?"

He was getting too old for things like this, no Peter was well past too old for these things and yet here he was, drinking a beer at a party that seemed to think strobe lights was decent lighting.

"You don't want to know what I think," Neal said with a small smile as Peter spoke to him. "I was going to ask for wine but I don't think they hold anything I would drink."

He had dressed down - a bit - and was wearing trousers and a jumper but it still looked good on him even if he had had to resort to the clothing shop on base. Sadly for Neal, couture wasn't a big priority on a military base and Hetty wasn't going to let him have any of hers.

"I need to let Brian see I turned up. I figured I owed it to him considering he didn't hit on me - well... Didn't hit on me too much - when we were on that trip," he said. "But once he's seen I'm here, I'm going. This is so not my scene."

Re: Neal/Peter

Peter had a feeling he had a pretty good idea of just what Neal thought about this place and the party itself, he didn't need Neal to actual say it. "Yes, well all know how you feel about wine with a twist cap." There was very little of this place that fit with the personality Neal had crafted for himself back at home, he was still himself of course, he just had to work within new boundaries to get to that point - and if there was anything Neal was good at it was working with what he had available to him.

"You don't figure you owe it to the rest of the team to be here?" He asked him. For all that this wasn't the type of thing Peter would have gone to normally, he was still interested in promoting that whole idea of team unity and it was hard to do that when you weren't around.

"I think the only person who is completely at home here is Kinney, but it's not about the party, you know." He might not have that anklet on Neal anymore, but the idea of being there to help Neal and subtly and occasionally not so subtly urge him in the right direction was still there despite their relocation.

Re: Neal/Peter

"I'm not even convinced it's wine. Beer seemed a safer bet," he said. Which was exactly why his beer had only been sipped at. Neal wasn't a beer drinker and he had trained his palate over the years to prefer the finer things in life.

"Do you think I do?" Neal asked, interested to hear Peter's answer. "I think it probably won't matter beyond laughing at whoever has a hangover in the morning."

"The team would be better off having drinks without this lighting or music if you actually want us to spend time together and talk," he pointed out. "Not much talking to be done if Kinney plans on operating this club like his one in Pittsburgh."

Abby and Open
[info]goth_abby
2011-02-25 01:26 am UTC (link)
Practically skipping into the club, Abby swung by Brian to drop off the CDs Savannah asked her about earlier. Dressed in a bondage skirt along with a new t-shirt which reminded her of Ducky. Once the music was dropped off, she swung by the bar and order a vodka/Red Bull. Taking a sip, she scanned the room, debating if she wanted to be social or go dancing.

The discussion was made for her when she felt someone move into the spot next to her. "Hey. How's it going?"

This had stopped being his type of party sometime back in the 80s, and even then, it had only lasted a short time, from the years of fake IDs to finding a girlfriend and getting her pregnant. It was not a place he missed, but Savannah had asked, and they didn't want to disappoint her, so they went, and he tried to talk to everyone, even if just a few words here and there.

He went to the bar to grab a beer when Abby turned to speak to him. It was surprising, because she barely spoke to him under normal circumstances, but Sam didn't let problems on the job affect him personally. He smiled back at her. "I'm good. Hearing might be going soon, but otherwise, I'm fine, and you?"

It was one thing to limit speaking and contact with Sam and Callen when they were in class and spending as much time away from them out of class, but Abby couldn't really give either one of them the cold shoulder when they came up to her. Sipping on her drink, Abby shrugged to Sam's comment on the music. "Wish it was more like German Industrial metal."

While Abby found a few songs that were from that genre, they weren't the same as the ones from back home. Nothing is like it was back home, she thought. "Fine."

Sam nodded, half amused that anything like that could be said with a straight face. "I have no idea what that is, but I'm sure it's unique." He couldn't imagine Abby listening to anything on the Billboard top 100 anyway.

"Good. Did you see Kensi arrived?" he asked, wondering if he could get her to talk. He was still worried about her 'sighting' on their trip. "She said Gibbs is running NCIS at the moment. Interim Director."

"It's very popular in Europe and hit main stream in the US during the mid 90s," she said on automatic pilot. Random information like that often came out of her mouth without much thought, but lately she had been able to stop herself.

Nodding, she glanced over at the other NCIS agent. Abby hadn't gotten much of a change to talk with her yet. Partly because she wanted to give Kensi some time with her team. I should go see her sometime tonight.

"He must hate it. He never wanted to be the Director; just work his cases with his team."

Savannah/Marty
[info]savannah_monroe
2011-02-25 05:13 am UTC (link)
She couldn't believe that she had ended up dancing with Brian of all people, but no one seemed interested. Brian saw dancing as way to sex, and that wasn't what she cared about either. She loved to dance, loved to move to the music, feeling that beat go through you. There was none of this tonight, and she really missed her friends. The hellcats would have had a ball in a place like this.

When Brian went to find something (or someone) to do, Savannah went to find Marty. She put her arms around him and kissed him. "Hey, having fun?"

Marty and Kensi talked for a while and eventually they'd both gone their separate ways. It was probably for the best - it wasn't really the right kind of place for deep and meaningful conversations. Teasing and pushing each other around again, well that had worked out pretty well.

He grinned when Savannah kissed him. "Hey," He wrapped his arms around her and nodded. "Yeah, I'm having fun. How about you? Saw you dancing with Kinney." He smirked quirking an eyebrow at her.

"It's okay," she said, smiling, although it really wasn't and she didn't even know why. She was just in a mood since Kensi had arrived, and it wasn't even because of what she'd said. They had everyone they cared about right here, and she was alone. They might have included her in their group, but it wasn't the same.

She missed Marti. She couldn't believe that she actually missed her, and Alice with all her schemes and Vanessa with her kind words, and Charlotte who probably had a big belly by now.

Savannah shrugged. "He was the only one dancing and I like to dance. Maybe I'll convince some of the others later."

"Just okay?" He asked her, he knew she wasn't exactly her same chipper self since Kensi had shown up - and they hadn't really talked about it, not since that night Kensi had come around. "Well what can we do about making this much better than okay for you?"

"I'll dance with you. I mean I'm not quite as good as Kinney but I have some moves." He chuckled, brushing her hair back gently.

"How are you though? Apart from the dancing" There was something off, even Marty had enough wits about him to notice that much.

"It's not exactly the most exciting party in the world," she said, "but there's really nothing to be done about that. Brian did a good job with the club, though. I'm sure the guys here will appreciated it." More than tonight's crowd, she was sure of that.

She laughed when he compared himself to Brian. "I'm sure your moves are a lot better than his, especially since the fact that I'm not a man offends him. I can change into many things, but I don't think I want to try changing into a man." In fact, she didn't even want to know if that was possible.

"We had parties like this at home. Well, almost like this. Everyone would be dancing and singing and just having a good time. I miss it; I miss them. I miss going to class and practice," she said with a shrug, because there wasn't anything that anyone could do about that. "It's stupid to think about it; I know that, especially at a party."
