RP: Party at the Club
Who: Everyone
Where: the base
When: February 24, 2011
Summary: It's a real party

The beauty of this reorganization was that he had a lot more free time available. Sure he had to deal with Hetty, but she wasn't bad for a woman, and she was witty, something that he appreciated. However, it still meant that he had time to fix the club the way he wanted.

He had to do it cheaply, of course, but he was resourceful when he needed to be. First they got rid of all those horrible tables. They were replaced by mismatched sofas left by soldiers that had moved elsewhere or from offices not used anymore. The next step was the walls. Again, it didn't take much, cheap full lenght mirrors, stripped of the frames and glued to the sheet rocks all around, while the walls in the sitting area were covered in sheer white fabric that would turn into a purplish color under the right light. There was also a cube of wood that they had quickly painted white on one side. They might never use it, but maybe he could convince a person or two to dance there. Finally the lights. Again, things could be done cheaply. Darkness was the key. He got the boys to get the lights that IKEA sold for inside drawers and put them at the bar so the bar tender could see without needing too much light. Then strobe lights, which weren't as expensive as people thought.

With the room ready, the music was the last touch. Brian had been listening to current dance and pop music since his arrival, but he was no expert, and he asked one of the soldiers who seemed to know what he was doing to create a few CDs with songs. They'll work up to a live DJ, but this was pretty good for the time being.

They were ready for a party.

Sam thought about the question for a moment, and decided that he simply couldn't answer it. "I think you're asking the wrong thing," he said finally. "It never occurred to me to hate a mission in the first place," he explained, "especially in the Navy. You just follow orders. You don't like or dislike them; you don't question them. Even with NCIS, I wouldn't hate the mission, I might find the risks involved to outweigh the benefits, but in the end, that's G's call to make. I can make a case for an approach over another, but once the decision is made, there's no room for questions."

He looked at her and shook his head. "I don't think so. I'd rather deal with the unexpected than be home wondering what happened to my team, wondering if they are okay, worrying that I'm not there to watch their backs. No, I'd rather be here than there."

She supposed she could understand the just 'accepting' things from someone who spend the majority of his adult life in situations like that. However, Abby was never one to just accept things at face vaule. "Rule number 8," she replied absent mindedly.. Of course, trusting your partner was another one of Gibbs' rule, so she could see that side of things.

"I see Gibbs seeing it more like a mission; being Director. But I still think he dislikes it. Except when he gets to screw with some congressional aid or lackey or something. I can see him liking to do that."

Abby shook her head. "Most of your team's here now," she pointed out. It seemed that an unusal amount of those crossing over were from the OSP office. Why them? "I'm worried either way. But since it's just me, I know Gibbs is watching them and keeping them busy while he figures out a way to get to us."

Quickly, she finished off the last of her drink as a feeling of melancholy fell over her. Turning, she ordered another one. Once the drink arrived, she turned back to Sam. "I'm going to say hi to Kensi." With a tiny wave, she left Sam at the bar as she made her way over to the other NCIS agent.
