WEATHER: See events.
EVENTS: 5... 4... 3... 2... 1! All through-out the ship the clocks count down, and finally, the clock strikes midnight! Confetti falls from ceilings and champagne bottles are popped open as people get on with the festivities. Within sixty seconds, all hell breaks loose.
One second, things are fine. There is no visibility through the storm if one looks out a window, and so no one has any way of knowing exactly what happened. But it is as if a massive wave hits the ship on the starboard (that is, right) side. That enough would be enough to do some damage, but in the next fraction of a second it feels as if the ship itself has been yanked to the southeast. All through-out the ship, anything that isn't bolted to the ground (and, naturally, anyone) is thrown to the port (left) walls.
Still under the grip of what could only be a massive wave, the ship rocks so far to the left that one may have fears of it actually tipping over. At the last moment, the ship rocks violently to the right, working to stabilize itself. This, of course, means that everything (and one) that was just thrown to the left? Is now thrown to the right. Things continue in this violent back-and-forth manner for what feels like an eternity, but in reality, can be estimated somewhere within the area of forty minutes to an hour. Only estimates are possible, as at the stroke of midnight, every clock (including personal watches!) stop.
Either way, in the grand scheme of things, the contents and passengers of the ship have a very volatile time. Towards the end, some may get the feeling that the ship is in a cyclone. But when the dangerous rocking stops - it stops. And many may perhaps find this to be the most disturbing event of all. As the ship was rocking back and forth, no single go was any less violent or steep than the other. But as the last wave passes, the ship goes from being at at least a sixty degree angle, to dead center and perfectly calm. The storm stops. The ocean stills. Clouds can still be seen in the sky, but all is still and quiet. The only evidence that there had ever been a storm is the debris of destruction in the ship.
With the chaos passed, members of the crew spring to action, and try to help passengers in any way possible. As the medical station is too small for all the injuries there are bound to be, the injured are taken to Apollon Grace. Of course, any life-threatening injuries there may be will have first priority, and will be taken to the medical station for immediate treatment. Otherwise, the doctors and nurses will take patients to the station in turns.
If asked, no member of the crew can say what just happened, only that they must have stumbled into the eye of a freak storm. And if nothing else, by the time people return to their rooms, they are bound to have questions.
Every clock has stopped (digital clocks would have gone dead entirely). The internet is out. The phones will only call other rooms on the ship. And for those who could afford to pay the outrageous international calling fees on their cellphones, no luck. Every cellphone on board is dead. Every means of off-ship communication is gone. Additionally, no television stations are coming in. If asked, the crew will explain that many systems are down due to the storm, but they will work to have everything back up and running as soon as humanly possible.
The house-keeping and maintenance staff is put to work immediately, the priority being in making rooms safe again (as things like broken glass can be found everywhere). It's also announced that any able-bodied staff member who would like to volunteer to help the clean-up crews will be compensated with triple overtime. By six AM, the grand buffet and Eurycleia's Cafe are cleared for public use, and through-out the day other rooms follow (though the night clubs Ossa and Sing the Rage are considered lowest priority). As the sun comes up, the sky is still overcast, but the sun is shining.
The crew do their best to reassure fears, but by early afternoon, there is still no outside communication. And unfortunately, they don't know when it will be back. It is announced that the cruise director will be publicly addressing all problems in Circean Delight at 4 PM.
NOTICE: This game-day is going to have an event that advances the time along. Please do not play scenes that take place after 4 PM.
BEFORE POSTING, CHECK THIS POST IN THE OOC.
